 V - Pride. According to Webster, it means the state or quality of being proud ' This definition does not help one to under- stand exactly what pride is. Al- though the exact definition is evasive, the feeling that exists with pride is quite obvious. There was no mistaking this pride when you were among the student body members of Hurley High School. Students, teachers, and community mem- bers showed a pride and com- mitment to their school which was greater than in any other recent year. As one senior stu- dent replied when questioned about his reasons for wearing his lettermen's jacket on a rath- er warm afternoon, I wear it so that people can see where I go to school. This year I'm proud to be a Bulldog. It was this feeling that caused the Hurkota Yearbook staff to 2 Opening change the theme of this book in the middle of the year. Our job, as we see it, is to report on the year and accurately repre- sent the events and the people. If this is the case, then the re- turn of pride to Hurley High School certainly reflects the overriding feeling that existed in the student body. It is impossible to specifically state what brought about this pride. Certainly, it was a combi- nation of many things. As you page through this book, it is our hope that you can see the pride which was such an important part of the 87-88 school year. ►Chad Boomgarden, Jamie Jacobson, and Donnie Jager proudly raise their Tri-Valley Conference Championship Trophy high in the air.
