Starting with the early morning runs in August and ending with the State meet in November, Huntsville ran 13 meets. In city competition the boys were 2nd, the girls 3rd, and the 9th boys 1st. At State the boys placed 9th, the girls 7th, and the 9th boys 4th. Jeannette Strickland, John Shoemaker, and Doug Scott received All State honors, and John Walthall made All City. They’re off at the start of the boys race at the 1982 City Meet. Varsity girls anxiously await start of State Meet at Joe Wheeler Park.
