BOARD OF EDUCATION Dr. Wm. R. Austin, Dr. Louis Brown, Mr. Loyd Little, Mr. Marvin Drake, Mr. Oliver Johnson Dr. Joseph Henry Stowers, Jr., became superintendent of the Huntsville City Schools on February 1, 1968. He graduated from Starke University and received his B.S., M.A., Ed.D. Degrees from the University of Alabama and his AA Certificate from Auburn University. 19

IN APPRECIATION Mr. Allen Hyatt served as principal of Huntsville High School from June 1960 to June 1968. During his administration, a modern cafeteria replaced the overcrowded one, and an extensive library was added in the new wing. Two new departments were formed, our guidance counselors and office ladies were hired, and our clinic was opened. Mr. Hyatt and the Class of 1967 built a school in Candeleria, Columbia. We joined the Carl C. Parrish School in Barranquilla in a School-to-School Exchange Program and also participated in the American Field Service Program. Mr. Hyatt left to become the Associate Director of Tennessee Valley Education Center. But in his departure he left us with great achievements and fond remembrances. The Senior Class of 1969

ADMINISTRATION Mr. Barnett J. Gamble came to Huntsville High School at the beginning of the 1968-1969 school year. He came to us from Stone Jr. High, where he was principal. He received his B.S. degree from Middle Tennessee State University, his M.A. and M.Ed. degrees from Peabody College in Nashville, and attended the University of Florence in Italy.
