Our first year in High School. After school had been under- way for a week or so, Mr. McCrum announced that our sponsor would be Galen Colclessor, a first year teacher from the WCollege.' In our first class meeting we chose Phyllis Hart as President and Anne Swain as Vice-President. Later in the fall season we decided to have a hay-ride and went to Paul Clark's home. Everyone had a good time. At Christ- mas time we were all invited to a party at Carol Brown's home and so we exchanged names, bought a gift and went. SCPHOMORES: When we assembled to receive our book lists on the first day of our sophomore year, we found that we had a new member in our midst, Shirley Beady. This year our sponsor was Mr. Ackerman, a shy mathematician now in South America Cno connec- tionl. Our officers were: David Merryman, President and Fred Hauenstein, Secretary - Treasurer. Max Schwob, Anne Swain, and Dick Coles were student council representatives. me went to Miss Swain's home on our hay-ride. At Christmas time we met at Mae Wa1l's home and were taken from there to the home of her sister at Andrews, where we completed the party. JUNIORS: We are now all juniors iwill miracles never ceasel. We added still another new member, Miss Marilyn Jackson. After several tryouts, Mr. Mulligan was our sponsor and directed and produced our famous play, NBelieve It or Notu. We started our gay social season off with a hay-ride at Carol Brown'S. Our Christmas party was at Helen Sell's and was a smashing success. We decided, before school was out, to have a beach party and so on a warm Sunday in July, we met on the court house lawn from whence, we went to long lake for a lovely picnic provided for us by the girls. Just after school was out the class went to the state park at Lagro for a picnic. late in the summer the girls held a farewell party for Barbara Chamberlain. SENIORS: Highlights of a memorable senior year included a hay-ride to the home of Max Schwob. Things got a little rough for asthma sufferers and there seemed to be a lot of them, as straw flew all over the wagon. Other social occasions of the year included a birthday party thrown by Camilla Huston, a surprise party for Marilyn Jackson, a wiener roast at the Carol Brown residence, a slumber party at Smyser's following the Indoor Fair a Halloween party at Ellen Storey's, a skating party at Beatty's Rollerina, the Christ- mas party held at Anne Swain's house, and a dance featured by Lloyd Fluke's Orchestra. In addition to the eventful senior trip at the close of the year other excursions were taken including a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry at Chicago and a trip to the State Capitol at Indianapolis. There we find the movie business is now chief popcorn in his chosen profession. We find Phyllis Hart working there also. Her job is one requiring great skill and many year's apprenticeship. She staples the bags shut Leaving the famous theater, we continue our tour. We stop in front of a beau- ty saloon, called 'Beady The Beautifier.' The establishment is owned by Shirley Beady. She is an expert at giving permanents. One of her m st famous creations is the Collie Coiffure. Going out West Park Drive, we see a large neon sign advertising Edingfield and Schwob. We go into the office and see wrecked car business is to get parts for his We then travel to Markle to see John name was Mae Wall. John is coach of the streak of thirty two games. Swales and his wife, whose naiden Markle Eagles who now have a winning what the secret of his success was, he While in Markle we came upon an undertaking establishment called Coles Mort- uary. We find none other than Richard Coles owner of it. He told us that business was really dead. Traveling south we came upon a town in which there is a circus. We stop to see the main event, which is a lion tamer preforming with her big cats. We were astounded to learn the lion tamer's name was Evelyn Biddle. We saw her do a special act in which she stuck her head God To Thee . in a lion's mouth end sang nNearer My In Kentucky we visit the Howard Schilling Plantation and are not Surprised to see him married to the former Sarah Sue Kriegbaum. He is a grower of fine tobacco which he sells to the Fago Tobacco Company. We decided to visit the gold vaults at Fort Knox. When we arrive there we find Fredrick Hauenstein is night-watchman. While we were talking to him we notice- ed large bulges in his pockets and his dinner bucket was so full of something we could hardly lift it. When we questioned him about this he fled in terror. We find John Heiney in Kentucky also. He is now a well known tobacco auctioneer. we asked him why he became a didn't have a good enough voice to become tobacco auctioneer and he replied, NI a hog caller so I took the next best job.' We decided to go to Madison Square Garden where there was going to be a uoman's wrestling match. One wrestler, called the Amazon, was going to wrestle Maggie the Mauler. We took ringside seats. When the contestants entered the ring, we were dumbfounded to see that the Amazon Assassination was Annabelle Swain. We asked her why she became a wrestler and she replied, 'an overdose of Hadacol did it'. While driving through the suburbs of New York, we see a large factory in which is made 'Crunch Crummy Corn Flakes,' our favorite cereal. We decide to visit the factory. We are flabergasted to learn that the owner of the factory is Charles Brumbaugh. His largest product is the large economical size box of Crunchy Crummy Corn Flakes. It holds two tons of the corn flakes and when empty it makes a very nice two-car garage. Going north toward New York, we tune in to one of our favorite radio pro- grams, 'The lonesome Ghoul', sponsored by the Hiccup Beer and Burppo Ale Company. The star of the program and the one for whom the program is named is Marilyn Jackson. When we arrive in New York we drive to the Metropolitan Opera House where we find Camilla 'Lily Pens' Huston and Donald Snider who, when hitting the high notes, sounds like Ezio stuck with a Pinza. They are accompanied by Paul 'Hot Lips' Clark, who sings bass. They are currently singing in the opera, 'le Vatory'. We visit Broadway and attend a musical. There is a line of chorus girls dan- cing on the stage and we are shocked to see one of them is Carol Brown. 19 PROPHECY Q continued 9 We visit the Powers Model Agency and we are astonished to find Catherine lash employed there. She recently was photographed for a series of pictures advertis- ing the Acme Horse Harness Company. Leaving the agency, we walk down the boulevard until we happen to see an organ grinder standing on the corner. The tune coming forth from his music box is a cross between Sweet Adeline and Triger Rag. Since we belong to the American Federation for the Preservation and Appreciatio of Fine Music, we venture closer to offer our congradulations for sensational preformance and to drop e C-note in the monkey's cup. Then we discover that the organ grinder is James 'Bucky' Elston. He said his business is getting to be an old grind. We travel to the Oak Ridge National laboratory in Tennessee. David Earl Merryman is now a nuclear physicist. He is working on a super-atomic weapon and if it wasn't for a difficult equation which has him stumped, he would be able to build it. The only thing that stands between him and success is the equation I-5-4. Close to Brumbaugh's factory, there is a small laboratory from which a strange and exotic oder is escaping. After investigating the oder, we find they produce perfume there. After seeing the other Seniors of N510 we are not surprised to find Helen Sell working there. She is a perfume snuffer. Since she is an expert on per- fumes we asked her what she considered to be the best on the market. Whe replied, 'Evening in the Garlic Patch' is my choice because it has that certain aroma which no other perfume can have. We had always wanted to see what dog food was made of so we went to the Rivial Dog Food Company. We find Ellen Storey working there. His job is to sample the dog food to make sure it is fit for dogs to eat. When we are back in our custom built auto, we turn on our auto-television set to see our favorite TV show, 'The Perfect Marriagen or WHe Poisoned His Inlaws.n The characters around which the story is build are Billie McNalley and his wife, the former Beverly Ballard. By information we have picked up, we learn that Marilyn Smyser is in Borneo. We rent a Trans-World Airline plane to take us there. when we arrive there we are met by Marilyn. She tells us she is trying to convert all the monkeys into commu- nists, but they was able to scratch her left ear with her right foot. Arriving back in Huntington, we go directly to the Jefferson Sanitarium to recuperate from our horrible experience with the Seniors of W5lW. It has been generally conceded that they did an excellent job. They chose to show reli- gious pictures at Christman time and Easter time. During the rest of the year a number of comedies, interspersed with movies of a serious nature were shown. 58 earbo k Sfaf The following people were elected to the yearbook staff: David Merryman, Editor: Phyllis Hart, Asst. Editor: Carol Brown, Business Manager, Marilyn Snyser, Asst. Business Manager. Work on the annual was begun almost immediately when the entire class collected advertisements over the Christmas Vacation. The Huntington Township Bearcats did not have a very good year as far as the won and lost record was concerned but played several good games during the season. They did a good job of holding down the two powerful teams of Union and Andrews. With only three seniors on the starting nine this year the Bear- cats youthful ball club makes next year's potential very great, The team was led in the hitting department by Dean Barton, who was the most consistent hitter and fielder on the team. Barton, along with Jerry Tobin and John Heiney, handled the pitching scores for the season.
