The girls athletic association was started in 1936 at Huntington Township under the direction of Miss Isobel Krieg. Since that time nearly every girl in this High School has belonged. Thi: fear the girl: 2 . are hapfy to have Miss Virginia Link as their sponsor. Activities which the G.A.A. members have participated in are as follows: volley ball, swimming, bowling, dancing, and ping pong. A hay rack ride was held at the beginning of the year at the home of Martha Graham. The G.A.A. sponsored a skating party at Beatty's Rollerena with all schools invited. At the end of the year an achievement day was held. This is a time for all girls in G.A.A. to get together and have a good time while earning extra points for the coming year. The big event of the year is the G.A.A. banquet which is held at the end of the year. The purpose of this is to welcome the new members, appoint officers for the coming year, bid farewell to the Seniors and receive those hard earned awards. Officers for 1949-50 were: President. Soon after school took up last fall Miss Haas called a meeting of the high school chorus and 24 boys and 26 girls responded. Before long the Purdue Glee Club came to Huntington High Stool Auditorium and 16 students and 4 teachers spent an enjoyable evening at this concert. At Christmas the chorus presented a cantata for the entire stu- dent body. The chorus also sang in the second annual spring festival held at the Community Gym, March 25. For the first time since Miss Haas has directed the Hunting ton Township Chorus the seniors sang in the Baccalaureate Choralpresent- ation. 54
