K ujctQM . H ua ' Spirit, spirit let ' s hear It . . . We heard this every Fri- day at lunch during the weekly pep rallies. What a way to boost the Spartan spirit! Cheerleaders, flag girls, leader ship members and the band gave their all out effort to prepare the student body for the following football game that evening. We, the students, took part in the yelling and cheering along with the cheerleaders. This ac tivity was definity the highlight of our daily lunches. But sometimes cheering and yelling just didn ' t push us quite enough. That ' s when the gymnastic team came in. This year they participated in a few of the pep rallies and performed stunts to get the crowd going. Another push was when the cheerleaders passed out oranges and Orange Crush sodas to the loudest students. That really got us going. It was worth getting something in return for our spirit and enthusiasm. Pep rallies not only brought us together for a spiritual activity, we viewed each other and all our moves and ex- pressions were being watched by the people sitting across from us. The clowns and hams sat up in the front, and the observers stood up on the benches to get a good glimpse of everything that was going on. For some reason, we forgot about all our responsibilities and classes and zeroed in on the spirit and support for our football teams. The Friday follies of involvement and ex- citement were the one thing that helped save our school spirit. 1 . Brian Waters and Maria Gil stare amazingly, as the cheerleaders perfornn. 2. Students enjoy participation of the gynnnastic team, perfor ming stunts. 3. I don ' t know v hat I ' m doing, but it ' s fun! expresses Geanette McCray as she claps along during Pep Rally. 28
