This Season ' s Finest Crop Turn on the lights and roll out the red carpet. It was once again the highlight of football season. Homecom- ing glittered with all itsfancy frills, floats and court, all organized by Leadership members, Connie Morales and Nery Alfonso. Gracing the Homecoming Court were Queen San- dra Aguilara, and Princesses, Lillian Barrios, Alba Suarez, Sandy Kahl and Joy Maxwell. The escourts were Jesse Valladares, Tony Guillen, Julio De Leon, Luis Noy and Herschel Kozasky. Apart from the court ceremony, patience, time and creativity were essential in putting together a Homecoming for the thousands of spectators. As for the HP students themselves, preparation, spirit and support were mandatory to them in Homecoming. Friday afternoon, previous to the game, Leadership organized a noontime activity among the Homecom- ing Princesses. It was somewhat of an obstacle course where football players painted their faces at the end of the race. Something different had been done to boost the students spirit for the following evening. Along with this activity, a pep-rally took place. It lasted the whole lunch period . Apart from the band, cheerleaders, flag team, and the students as well, par- ticipated loudly in the festivities. Preparations for the game began at about 1:00 p.m. Leadership, with the help of other students, worked together in putting up banners, balloons, decorating floats and setting up the traditional Court. Somehow four hours of preparations didn ' t phase the hard work- ing students. Once the evening drew close, everything fell together. The floats looked great. ja u l m ' ) H I K |[ H iHHI 1 . Preparing the Pizazz E.S.L. went all out this year and added a bit of the extra-terrestrial effect to their float. E.T. was the eye catcher! Other organizations such as YGAD and the Spartan Club, put some creativity into their floats as well. Then came the dance on the following Saturday night. A time for everyone to get out their nicest out- fits and ' glamour up ' for an evening with DJ Joe Green from radio station KGTE 102. This was the se- cond year in a row that the dance was held in the boys gym. Quite a few people showed up, both students and guests. At 12:00 a.m. the festivities came to a closing, All those along hours of hard work didn ' t compare to how fast the game and dance went. In any case. Homecoming was a success again. It wouldn ' t be till next year that the Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen would get together repeat a ceremony that became the best known tradition of the school year. 4.|!iW° Ste« 0 ' ' ' 7.
