They easily beat their opponents in the Sectional and in the Regional, but had a close battle with Elkhart in the evening game ol' the Semi-State. The Vikings surprised many by beating the number- one team in the stale, Columbus, and went on to the evening game--the farthest Hunting- ton had gone in the history ol lluntington Inligh School. The Vikings became the State Runners-up, and the coveted Trester Award was given to Mike Weaver. Tennis The Huntington High School tennis team finishedanother commendable season this year, winning eight of their twelve regular season games. Seniors Roger Ross and ,Ierrome llerrburg, whose losses will be heavily felt, played a prominent part in many ofthe victories, including those over Fort Wayne Central, Marion, Bluffton, and Concordia. At the South Side Doubles Tournament they were both runners-up in the first team doubles. Others who furthered Huntington's reputation in tenniswere Wayne Fryer and Doug llammel, who will probably lead the team effort next year, john Pegan, senior Dave Kroot, and .Ion Ellet. It is expected that since practice makes perfect, Huntington'sprospects on the tennis court next year should be very good as they will re-welcome several veteran players. Mike Shumaker, the only senior on the team will be missed, how- ever, the remainder of the team is com- posed of juniors and underclassmen who are constantly improving. This past year H.H.S. has had two German students as a part ofthe student body. Anneliese Kubina was the Y.F.U. exchange student, and Susie Posselt was visiting her aunt, Mrs. Madeline Weber. Anneliese came from Syke, Germany, and resided with the John McClure family while in America. She wanted to come to America to understand the American way of life. Under the Youth For Understanding program Anneliese stayed in America from August, 1963, until August, 1964. Susie also wanted to come to America to widen her knowledge of our country, and she has traveled in many parts of the United States, as has Anneliese.
