GUIDANCE BOASTS WISE COUNSELING The guidance services at HHS are intended to assist students in college and vocational planning and in the preparation of their academ- ic programs in order that they may take ad- vantage of their potential and the opportuni- ties pro ided by their school. The guidance personnel are located in the Guidance Cente; under the direction of Charles Kaufman. Guidance counselors meet with each student at least twice each year, but students are en- couraged to seek their coimselors whenever they need assistance. Deans for the 1960-61 school year were Mrs. Geraldine Miller and Bruce Gerdes. Their du- ties included checking absentees, compiling absentee lists, issuing tardy and absence slips and taking care of an ' other attendance problems. Class guidance counselors were Robert Diffenbaiigli, Mrs. Berniee Hillesras, Ed Burke and Ixaii Wilhelui. These eight students excelled scholasticallv and were in the top fi e percent of the class. The K.B.F. winners and their parents were the guests of the Kiwanians at a luncheon dur- ing senior week. Each month of the school year the Hunting- ton Rotarv Club chooses an outstanding senior bov from not onlv Huntington High, but also Huntington College and Huntington Catholic, to be honored as fimior Rotarian. The Junior Rotarians attended weekly luncheons gi en by the club.
