PREPARING PRESENTING AND PROCLAIMING Modulus Revue As the lights dimmed and the vel- vet curtains parted at 8:00 p.m. on March 19, 20, 21, another spectacular Modulus Revue was born. The show which included a variety of talent, was kept moving each night by the able master of ceremonies, Phil Schilling. Of course such a successful pro- duction as the 1958 Modulus Revue would not have been possible with- out the guidance and assistance of many people. The general director of this yearis revue was Mrs. Walter Young. Mr. McCabe Day was in charge of ticket sales and the stage crew. The high school orchestra and all other musical entertainment was under the direction of Mr. Cloyde Slater. The unusual and beautiful backdrops for the stage were de- signed and constructed by Mr. Ru- dolph Iohnson. As the curtain was lowered on the last act, everyone was again very con- scious of the vast amount of 'talent that is always a part of Huntington High School. Onc-two-three-kick? Senior Play Are teachers human? This was the question which the Senior Class of ,58 answered on November 19 and 20, 1957, when they presented the three act comedy, ARE TEACHERS HUMAN1 hy james Reach. The play took place at Central High School in an average American town. As the story opened, complica- tions hetween Mr. Fowler, the new young principal, and Miss Meadows, the pretty, young English teacher, he- gan immediately. The hilarious situations which follow- ed kept the audience laughing continually. Despite shaking knees and perspiring palms, the cast presented the play in a very professional manner. XVe were very proud of them. XVe were also very grate- ful to Mr. Leslie XVilhern, Mr. Dale XVare, and Mr. B. P. McKay for their invaluable assistance and patience while coaching the play. Onc of the big projects which was under- taken by this group was that of solving the utrafficv in the halls. To remedy this problem, a committee was appointed to write up a set of rules which the student body accepted and attempted to follow. Under the expert guidance of Mr. Goshorn and Mr. Johnson the council sponsored a money- making campaign to raise money for the American Field Service. The efficient officers for the year were jim Stringfellow, president, Steve Mower, vice- president, janet Bragg, secre- tary, and Stan Robinson, Treas, urer. The candy business is really booming! 30 EXCHANGE STUDENTS IMPROVE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS RUDOLPH JOHNSON This year Huntington High School was privileged to have Mr. Rudolph johnson from WVarwick, England, as its exchange teacher in art. He will always be remembered for his walk, his smile, his sincerity, his accent, and his three beautiful Modulus Revue backdrops. Although his visit was a short one, we shall always remember him as our own Rudd.v AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE The American Field Service is a program that sponsors a student exchange between the United States and thirty- two foreign countries. This year Huntington High School AIR. IQUDOLIJH JOHNSON was fortunate to have Vanda Vieira from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, spend the school year with us. During the summer of 1957, Ioyce Lockhart, a senior at H. H. S., represented the school on her trip to Skovlunde, Denmark. Another figure always identified with the marching band was their drum Q major, Phil Krieghaum. Phil did a marvelous job as he completed his fourth year in this position. Something new for the band was a Band Council which consisted of two representatives from each class i who met with Mr. XVeesner every week to discuss plans ' which would better the band. Members this year were Mary Ann McNamee, Jane Hastings, Barbara Day, Ar- len Paul, Tom McElhaney, Cary Olinger, Steve Michael, and Clarice XVilliams. J The band played four practice concerts for the grade J schools during the year and presented its annual con- cert of May 4. The ensembles and solos which went to T the district and state contests won superior ratings. The J band as a whole competed in a contest held in New a l i w s w Haven, Indiana, on May 19. That's not to say that there weren't some real hattles. For instance, the Seyds had their hands full when the VVahash Papooses made a last minute rally. -And who can forget that thrilling game with Elwood when the Seydlings went into the lead in the closing seconds. In fact, the Seyds almost outdid themselves for several members of the squad were juggled around with the varsity throughout the year. Eventually, hoth Ron Handwork and Kenny Tewel earned their herths on the first-string line-up. Despite the trading and trading, the Seyds kept their winning ways while eying the future with eagerness.
