i ' | jHM H f| S£ 4, 4 UNTlMfeTOM Jj ' fiePjnfDIfttE ' School Principal ' s Message Each generation thinks that it is wiser than the previous generation. This is as it should be; however, the wisdom of the past can and should be used as building blocks for the present and future. Mr. W. D. Scales, former principal of Huntington High, delivered a message to his students that seems to transcend all times. The administration would like to share this message with you; You are an integral part of the social order and it is your obligation to foster the general good. Cast your lot in the vanguard of those ever vigilant to safeguard the principles of democracy. The future is yours ! The outlook is bright. Let not the presence of problems dampen your enthuasiasm. The material and spiritual coffers of the world are open to those who will pay the price for them. Set up for yourselves some worthy goal and strive unceasingly for its realization. Reflect in your behavior what you know and accept the principles of moral conduct. These will enable you to rise above obstacles that doom the weak and despair. Those who have shared the responsibility of directing your development here have tried to instruct you, by pre- cept and example, in the democratic way of life. You have been taught the meaning of freedom; the values derived from according others their just deserts have been explained to you; you have shared in formulating regulations to which you have been expected to conform. It is our hope that you will be guided by these ideals in your future relationships with all men. Even though Mr. Scales delivered his message more than twenty years ago the mean- ing and wisdom of his thoughts are quite apropo to our times. It is our hope that this message will help to provide nourishment for your minds and sustenance for your bodies. Be proud, but not too proud; be humble but not too humble; be ambitious but not too am- bitious; be curious but not too curious and always remember that mans relationship to man determines the fate of the world. 2 Mr. Roger Tomlinson Mr. Wilbur Holmes Mr. Helmut Herdey ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS Because I said so that ' s why! Mr. Holmes is for once at his desk. 3 CLASS OF 1978 Abrams, Wynella Adams, Shawna Alxander, Charlie Allen, Linda Allen, Tammy Allison, Kenny Alston, Karen Al-Salam, Selma Anderson, Gayle Anderson,
