Four glorious years ago, we entered Huntington High, With the idea of gaining great success, In our future years that were nigh, But now that the years have passed us by And we are leaving this school, We think of the joyous times we've had, And the friends that we all knew. So dear old Huntington High School, We sadly say adieu, And with our hearts we express our thanks For the knowledge we have gained from you, Anna Mae Fouli 1 ff! ff V 41 rs N-W 'ur Dedication We, the Senior Class of 1951, wish to dedicate this year book in honor of a man who has been of great value to us and to our school, as our principal and also as our friend and advisor, It is with sincere appreciation that we dedicate this Talisman to, Mr, Francis J. WOW Eleanor DuCharme P' X' Q Q If W Norman Beals Betty jane St, Peier Anna Mae Fouli Eugene Sawyer Phyllis Thibault Frances Reddin Gwendolyn Frew 17 Myrtie Wood Ernest Lauffenburger Class History The Senior Class of 1951 is gathered together on this day to talk about the past, and to link together the years that we have spent in Huntington High School, We would all like to wander into the future, but first we are going to wander backwards to 1947. In September of 1947, the class of 5l came into high school as twelve big Freshmen, The first thing that our class did was to elect officers, They were: President, Anna Mae Foulig Vice-President, Norman Beals, Secretary, Myrtie Wood, Treasurer, Richard Giltrop, The dues were set at a S1,50, In our Freshman year we started off very slowly. The older classmen put on the Freshmen initiation for us and then we started on our own, We put on a dance with the Faithful Fisk Orchestra, That was all for our Freshman year, Everyone was promoted that year, but we lost three of our classmates and gained one, On entering into our Sophomore year, we elected our class officers for the coming year, They were: President, Richard Giltropg Vice-President, Phyllis Thibault, who took over the office of President after the departure of Richard Giltropg Secretary, Nettie Pease, and Treasurer, Norman Beals, The dues were also S1,50, We started the year off with our Sophomore Hop which was a profitable matter as well as a good time, Our second entertainment to raise funds was Yodeling Slim and this was a great success, Toward the end of the year, we sponsored the Westfield Variety Show starring Eleanor Marcoullier and this was a financial success, Throughout our Sophomore year, we sold candy which netted us a great profit, The Sophomore year was our most successful year financially, Three members of our Sophomore class were not with us in our junior year. When we walked into the high school to start our junior year, we went in with one idea which was our class trip to Washington and how we could make the money necessary for it, Our officers this year were: President, Nettie Pease, Vice-President, Gwendolyn Frewg Secretary, Myrtie Wood, Treasurer, Norman Beals, This year, as always, the junior Class put on a Halloween Party, lt is sometimes noted that the Halloween Party is not a money making proposition, but as always we made money on it, ln April we had an Easter Ham Raffle, The raffle was a marvelous success, netting approximately, SZ5,00, Later the class sponsored the Happy Daze, This show was not what its advertising noted, therefore the audience was very disappointed, but never- theless, it was a financial success, In our junior year the members of the class bought their class rings, The rings were square with a convex stone, This completed our junior year with the most important year just ahead, Now as we entered our Senior year we knew that an important year was in store for us, This was the year we actually settled down to make money for our class trip and for our commencement exercises, The class officers this year were: President, Gwendolyn Frewg Vice-President, Phyllis Thibault, Secretary, Myrtie Wood, and Treasurer, Norman Beals. The dues were still S1,50, Starting off the year we sponsored the ' Down Homors , follow- ed by a penny sale and a Thanksgiving raffle. Due to the fact we had no junior Prom, we combined the junior and Senior Prom, Then our big event came at last and with Mr, Crane as our chaperone, ten anxious and excited Seniors left for Washington, D, C, Now our four years have come to an end with our commencement exercises, and we are able to wander into the future and take our separate roads, Phyllis Thibault Myrtie Wood 18 Class Prophecy In the year 1961, one of my classmates, Eugene Sawyer, and I decided to have a class reunion at Look Park, All were contacted, and were heard from, First to arrive was Gwen Frew, who is now the wife of Ernest Robinson, a prosperous farmer, She is the mother of twin boys and a sweet little girl, Now right behind her was Phyllis Thibault who is still unmarried and started on a successful career, We also learned that she was receiving the great opportunity of her life, the opportunity to become a star in opera. The next two were in uniform, and who should they be but Anna Mae Fouli and Betty jane St, Peter, They had joined the WAAF'S immediately after graduation and they enjoy their careers very much, Betty jane is engaged to be married. Anna Mae also has a bright future, Ernest Lauffenburger was next, He has a fine position as distributing manager of The Springfield Union',', in fact, it is the highest position in this department, He also is married and has a nice family, two girls and two boys, Norman Beals was next, He is the very same as he was ten years ago, only his wish has come true and he is a registered pharmacist, To our surprise, we found that he is married and the father of a son, as well as being the owner of a large drugstore in Springfield. Myrtie Wood came in right behind him, only it wasn't Myrtie Wood anymore, for she had a handsome young man with her who was her former boss fshe has taken over nowj and is now her husband, We also learned later that she is his secretary and they own a small business in Northampton, She has two children, girls of course, Then we spotted Eleanor DuCharme who is nicely settled in a little ranch style home in Dalton, but as yet she has no children, She is working at the General Electric in Pittsfield, her husband also works there, Looking over toward the door, we saw Eugene Sawyer standing in the doorway, He has become a prosperous farmer, is married, and has a boy. He also has a very nice wife, Since he has become so prosperous, he has bought himself a new car, QA little different from the one ten years agoj, The last to come in was Frances Reddin, She is a happy wife of a prosperous dentist and the recent mother of a bouncing baby boy, Frances Reddin Eugene Sawyer n 1 9 Class Will Be it remembered that the Senior Class of one hundred and fifty-one of Huntington High School of the Town of Huntington, County of Hampshire, State of Massachusetts, being of somewhat unsound mind, memory and judgement, but imbued with a fine feeling of gener- osity toward the common cause, do hereby impose, publish and declare this to be our last will and testament, and do hereby bequeath as follows: I, Myrtle Wood, do will and bequeath to Bryan Wilcox my ability to pick baseball winners.
