We were lucky to have the services of llett to rightl Jimmie Puckett, Gary Gilbert, and Howard Lockhart. REVIEW OF THE SEASCJN The 1950 football season saw a revamped coaching statt lar the Pony Express. Coach McCoy turned the head coaching reigns over to Coach 1-larry Clagg, who began a rebuilding iob which is hoped will begin to pay dividends in 1951. We last -our opening game to Vinson 32-20 in a game that was marked by the detensive weakness ot both teams, lvlost at this same Vinson aggregation will be back to help us open the 1951 season. The Pony Express made a great comeback the next week to dawn Beckley 13-O, and end a nine game losing streak that had started lollowing the Beckley game in 1949. Cereda- Kenova was the next victim ol the Expressmen, 24-O. That win became even more important the next week as C-K upset Hunting- ton East. Ashland deleated us 27-O in a game that marked the end al athletic relations between the two old rivals. The Pony Express won its third and last game at the end ol the year the tollowing Friday, by beating Williamson, 40-20. ln the last tive games we lost to strong toes who were tav- ored to win. The brightest spot was a near upset over lronton, where breaks cost us the victory. It was not a successtul season by any means, but the ground- work is sound, and the teeling prevails that next year the Pony Express will begin to climb back among the t-ap teams in the State.
