The social studies department includes courses in world history in the soph- omore year: American history in the junior year, which is required of all students, and social, economic, and political problems in the twelfth year. lt is hoped that the student will get experience in observing, analyzing, and evaluating social happenings in such a way as to appreciate the changing nature of a society which does not operate on chance or emotion but must have at its command sound principles ot economics, sociology, psychology, biology, and government.
