Elass History ln the year 1945, thirty-five bewildered Freshmen fastened our first wheel to our covered wagon as we started over our four-year journey across the plain of knowledge. At the reins was our own capable and lovable, Sister Clara. The first hardship we encountered was the attack of the 1946 tribe of Seniors on the day of initiation. We stood the test and wandered through the Virgin Forest overcoming any obstacle that met our path. On the outskirts of the forest was a small village and there we stopped to chat and learned that our driver was to be changed and that we were to add our second wheel. This lap of our journey was made more pleasant and somewhat smoother over the bumps owing to the fine driving of Sister Ermenilde and our new- found ability to make friends. Many a spoke was broken and many a stop made for repairs, but through the dauntless courage of driver and passengers alike, we managed to add another wheel to our covered wagon. Sister Ermenilde relinquished her position as head of the caravan and Sister Jane Frances took over for the rest of the trip. After coming this far through the wilderness, we decided to have a celebration. The wagon ahead paused in their almost completed journey to enjoy our party in honor of their farewell. At this point we added our fourth wheel, tightened the hubs of the other three, and proceeded to- ward the last lap with our former driver. This part of our trip was the most eventful especially the tremen- dous victory over the enemy tribe of Vikings. After proving ourselves Worthy of such a feat, we felt no obstacle too great. Feeling the need for a change of scenery we snuck off into another part of the wilderness. This day will long be remembered in years to come. The end of our journey is in sight and as we review the past, there is a feeling of regret for the precious years left behind, but our wagon is complete and each of us looks forward with hope and faith in God, as we head out through the vast regions of life.
