Robert Stratman placed second and Richard Lhinger third. The contestants were awarded silver and bronze medals respectively. The topic chosen by both contestants dealt with nOur Bill of Rights.n The Junior Chamber of Com erce of Huntington sponsored an essay contest on nAmericanismu carrying a two-year scholarship to Hunting- ton College for the best essay. Richard Bartrom's essay won third place. The Jay Cees invited the writers of the ten best essays to a banquet and party. For'the Pepsi Cola Scholarship Test Richard Ehinger and Richard Bartrom received the class vote. They wrote the test and await a reply. HONOR STUDENTS Shirley McIntyre rates as the highest honor student and is the Class Valedictorian while Richard bartrom second highest honor stu- dent welcomed the commencement audience with his Salutatory. Ruth Kastner placed third. These three students received special recog- nition from the Rotary Society and the Kiwanis. Joanne Landrigan, senior in Huntington Catholic high, has Deen selected to receive the Bausch a Lomb Honorary Science Award Medal for achieving the highest scholastic record in science courses dur- 1ng'h1gh school. K JUNIOR ROTARIANS The Senior boys of Huntington Catholic High were the honored guests at the weekly Rotary banquets. Seniors were selected monthly on a scholastic basis. They attended the weekly dinner which was followed by an interesting meeting and program. The following were selected: September, Richard hhingerg October, Richard hartromg November, Robert Stratmang December, Thomas McNamara: January, Philip Scherg February, J. Joseph Ltterg March, Robert Nicholson: April, George A. Gillg May, Alfred Stoffel. ' SPORTS The Sportsmanship Award was given to J. Joseph htter. He has a four-year record in athletics to whcih he and his cchool may proudly point. The Senior nBawl'Babiesu won the ICT in a heated struggle with the Junior nLazy Five.u It took four years to win that trophy but the Class of '46 finally walked off with the highest honor--the ICT Trophy.
