OT course, iT has noT been necessary To puT such pressure upon Teachers in The more progressive schools where The use oT visual aids has long been The usual pracTice. BuT noT all communiTies are as progressive as They should be in This scienTiTic age and The children who aTTend backward schools are being cheaTed oT The bes+ Thaf They could have in educaTion. You have heard The expression, aTTribuTed To a Chinese sage cenTuries ago, A picTure is worTh a Thousand words. IT ThaT was True in anTiquiTy, whaT would a modern sage say oT The moTion picTure and iTs accompanying sound Track? PicTures wiTh sound are Talcen Tor granTed Today, buT They have become possible only wiThin The IiTeTime oT some ol: our older sTudenTs. Their educaTional possibiIiTies are iusT coming To be realized. By means oT The moving picTure we are inTroduced To The greaT world oT science. AToms dance IoeTore our eyes and mounTains are moved. The secreTs oT NaTure are revealed Through microscopic aTTachmenTs, and The whirling wonders oT The heavens above become neighbors Through The Telescopic proiecTors. We Travel To all corners oT The earTh, see sTrange peoples and hear Their words. We descend To The depThs OT The seas and climb The highesT mounTains while seaTed comTorTabIy wiTh our classmaTes. The opporTuniTies we have To exTend our Icnowledge oT our world and iTs many peoples are aImosT limiTless. We can, if we will, become Truly world ciTizens.
