This was the first time that Huntingdon had participated in inter-collegiate basketball since becoming a co-educo- tioncl institution. The varsity team was nicknamed the Hawks. The Hawks opened their first season out of town with the Birminghom-Southern Panthers. The Birmingham boys handed the Hawks a 72-54 loss but to a performance by Huntingdon that was by no means uncommendoble. The Hawks later avenged the loss by dumping the Panthers 61-45 here in Montgomery. Under the capable direction of Coach Neal Posey, the Hawks waded through 0 rugged 21 game schedule and emerged with cm outstanding 12-9 record. The Hawks, in their debut year in the cage sport, were pitted against some of the better small college basketball powers of the South.
