THEOPTIMIST 1929 Black-forwards, Bernardine Klosterman, Georgia Mae Oskins, and Louise Murray-guards. The BEARCATS played a schedule of eighteen games, including the best girls' teams of southern Indiana. During the season they amassed a total of 449 points against their opponents 253. Of these total points, Amelia Reckelhoif made 163 points, Lelia Black 175 points and Wilma Martin 52 points. Much credit is to be given to the Bearcats defense who held the line while the forwards scored points. Without an excellent de- fense, the scoring part of a girls' team is practically powerless. Much credit is also due the second team who bears the brunt of the season's practice. It is the second team that develops efficiency in the varsity team, but whose lot it is to remain in the background. Of the season's schedule of eighteen C185 games, the Bearcats lost six, only one of whichwas lost on the home floor. This defeat was that ad- monished by the southern Indiana champions, Boonville, by a margin of two points. First row, Captain Lelia Black, Wilma Martin, Louise Murray. Miss Mildred Douglas lcoachl, Amelia Reckelhoff. Georga Mae Oskins, Bernardine Klosterman. Hazel Niehaus. Second row, Delores Sharpe. Dorothy Shurig, Anita Landgrebe. Marjora Dufendach.
