Nature provided some wild moments with a snowstorm that stopped communica- tions for several days and tornadoes that shut off all electricity and heat. There were exciting nnoments provided by sports activites throughout the year. Throughout the season, all the basketball games provided much excitnnent. The twice won battles played over Busco dur- ing regular and tournament season help spark the spirit we needed. Several new records were set in track. The climax came at the end when the results of the last golf match determined who would win the A. C. A. C. All Sports Trophy. The end of the year found the Wildcats taking second in the Conference. These were all tense mioments for everyone. The Band was very pleased to be sel- ected to play for both Hubert Humphrey and Richard M. Nixon durmg their visits to Fort Wayne for the Presidential campaign. In the spring, banquets, special awards, the Prom, and term papers provided some fascinating and often hectic nnoments. We saw many of our capable classmates receive awards for their abilities. Among those receiv- ing awards were Sandy Rosenberry, John Phillip Sousa Band Award; Wayne Jen- kins, Arion Award for Band; and Tom Barkley, Arion Award for Choir. Graduation grew a little closer as Baccalaureate Services were held in the school gym on May Z3. The speaker was Reverend Bjork. Graduation was here. Commencement Exercises were held on May 25, in the Churubusco Gym. Mr. R. Nelson Snider, addressed the class on Who Is Educated. After receiving their diplomas, the class of 1965 advanced the first step toward new futures. The top two of the Senior class were Nancy Heck, Valedictorian, and Gayle Green, Salutatorian. Nancy had an overall average of 3. 85, and Gayle had 3. 83 out of a possible 4. 00 during their high school careers. Terry Howdyshell and Bob Warner were awarded trophies for oeing members of all sports at Hunter - town. Both are Juniors and should have a good year in store during their Senior year. From Moments To Memories . . . ACADEMICS Gayle Green is shown here with her exhibit from the Regional Science Fair. She won a first placing and re- ceived a Dental Award and an Army Award. Working hard on some tough Algebra problems, these Freshmen boys get instructions from teacher, Mr. Merryman. As Dave White prepares a Chemistry experiment, Leslie Roberson stands by with a fire extinguisher- just in case. MIND OVER MATTER Math and Science play an important part in the school life at Huntertown. Freshmen find Mrs. Alter and Mr. Merryman very able teachers of Gen- eral Math and Algebra as they enter the confusing world of exponents, square roots, and tangents. Older students further their mathematic ed- ucation with instructions from these teachers and Mr. Black. In the Science department Mr. Miller and Mr. Black instruct the stu- dents in Biology, Chemistry, and Physic s. Mark Helge, a Sophomore Biology student, also exhibited at the Region- al Science Fair. He won a Dental Award and a trip to the State Dental Convention. At Left: Norman Hursh and Larry Paul receive instruc- tions on handling snakes from their owner. The snakes were an attraction in the Biology class this year. 14 Ron Hamm, Senior Math student, works diligently on a problem for Mr. Black ' s class. IN SCIENCE AND MATH Now where are the sepals? wonders John Hawkins as he studies a flower in Biology lab. ' It should be here somewhere , think Sharon Pranger and Diane Gaff as they study their dissect- ed rat in Advanced Biology. ENGLISH AND HISTORY - PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE English and Social Studies are fund- amentals for learning at Huntertown. English instructors are Mrs. Spindler, Mrs. Bruskotter, and Mr. Helm, while Mr. Small, Miss Poling, Mr. Roberts, and Mr. Richey teach Social Studies. George Roberson works diligently on his term paper to pass Junior English. Jean Malcolm and John Gump point out funda- mentals of grammar. Well -1-1 . . . . Susan Roberson is stumped for words in Speech and Drama. 16 Making progress: Larry Hess and Terry Howdyshell have learned the where -aoouts of the United States. L ' H ! L EARNING THE LAWS OF BUSINESS Shorthand finds Judy Atkinson intently studying to make a good impression on Mr. Fox. Connie Dawson appears slightly disturbed as she works on her Typing I for Mr. Lieberum. Watch your copy is the command these typing stu- dents often hear and it appears as if they ' re doing just that. Roy Wells seems to have found the answer as he cautiously raises his hand for Mr. Sloffer ' s recognition in bookkeeping. IL Proud of their hard-earned choir sweaters are four-year choir members, Elaine Dixon and Ron Hamm. In warm weather the art students enjoy the great outdoors. ART APPRECIATION EQUALS CULTURE A budding artist, Mary Miller, directs her at- tention to her masterpiece.
