4Q 11' SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS DARLENE BUTT RICHARD HORSTMEYER RICHARD PEPE IOYCE BRANNING CLASS HISTORY The history of the Class of '46 began back in 1934 with several little diamonds such as Lloyd Gump, Dick Pepe, Pauline Pulver, Myron Warner, Bryce Fitch, lack Grim and Effie Botts. As they continued on through school, they picked up Norma Fox, Alvera Aikins, lean Campbell, Richard Yearling, Don Genth, Bob Richey, Bob Richey, Bob Gordon, Richard I-lorstmeyer, Alan Heren- deen, Nondis Becktell, Margaret Overly, Marilyn Smith, Phyllis Smith, George Arnold, Lee Freeman, Norman Plummer, Lorraine Opliger, Howard I-less, Donald McKin- ley, Robert Herdman, and Elizabeth lones. Each year these diamonds became a little brighter and they were pushed on because they were becoming more valuable all the time. Upon reaching high school we added many more jewels to our treasure chest. Genevieve Guiff, Luella Bloom, Marjorie Smith, Gladys Leiter, Darlene Butt, Bar- bara Van Anda, George Van Anda, William Lutter, Eliza- beth wise, lean Davis, Maryann Keener, Betty Easterday, Richard Moore, and Ioyce Branning. During our freshman year, all the jewels had a weiner roast at Blanchards. Next year we became silly sophomores with our green- ness wearing off. This year we added Bruce McComb to our chest. Also this year we had two class parties, First a wiener roast at I-Iorstmeyers and later a Wiener roast and hay-ride at Isaac Waltons. Miss Greenawalt and Mr. Smith were our sponsors. In 1945 we were jolly juniors, Under the careful guid- ance of Mr. Fryback and Mrs. Kincaid, we had a very successful year. Lloyd Gump was the class president, Dick Pepe, vice president, lean Campbell, secretaryg and Darlene Butt, treasurer. This year we had one class party and four dances. We gave a banquet in honor of the seniors of of '45. Werused a circus for our theme and we supported the banquet by selling Christmas and occa- sional cards. We also ordered our class rings and gave 'New Fires as our class play with lean Davis, Bruce McComb, Darlene Butt, and Donald Genth playing the leading roles. Donald Doster joined our class this year. Finallyl 1946. lust what we had been looking forward to, for eleven years. We added Bud Gallaway and Anna Adams to our class. Launched but not anchored was our class motto, our class flower was a white rose, and our class colors were maroon and white. We published The Black and Gold Flash and the Citadel. Our class play was A Case of Springtime and the leading role was played by Lloyd Gump as Bob Parker. The class left an electric clock for the assembly as a presentation to the school. The baccalaureate was held on Easter Sunday and commencement the following Wednesday. To make our last year really the most successful we find Richard Horstmeyer, president, leading them, loyce Bran- ning, vice president, helping them accomplish their aim when she is neededg Darlene Butt, secretary, has been kept busy reading them their rules, and Richard Pepe, treasurer, held their finances above the red. We have now received the treasures of graduation and are ready to pass on into another part of our future life and have given the treasure of being seniors to the class of '47,

HONOR STUDENTS When the final grades were averaged, the class of '46 found that Elizabeth Wise and Effie Belle Botts lead their class in scholastic attainment. ELIZABETH WISE Valedictorian a transfer from Noble County, graduated from the LaOtto grade school. I-Ier four years at I-Iuntertown Won her the reputation of a conscientious and bril- liant student. EFFIE BELLE BOTTS Salutatorian aside from her junior year at Topeka, Indiana, has spent her Whole school career at I-Iuntertown, Be- sides attaining proficiency in all school subjects, Effie Belle is particularly noted for her excellence in art. SENIOR SPONSORS We, the senior class would like to give part of our treasure to the two people who have helped us in Winning it in our last year of school, Miss Greenawalt and Mr. Prible. At times they have been strict and We have not gotten to do just what We Wanted but we find now that they were right. We are thanking you for helping us in our last year of school. Thank you again.
