BAND From stirring military marches to solid boogie-Woogie members of the band find Mr, Sloffer an inspiring director. The band's first public appearance occurred at the initial home basketball meet adding color and rhythm to sporting events. The performances of the band were looked forward to by all spectators. lntricate marching patterns and maneuvering caused many enthusiastic ohs and ahs from the fans, ln order that the school might have a more singable loyalty song, the band members chose the tune of Wave the Flag of Old Chicago as another school song in the Huntertown students' repertoire. At the Allen County Band Festival held March 23 the Huntertown group was chosen as the clinic band which played several numbers that were pub- licly criticized by Hans Schweiger, Director of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra. 5 Three students, Richard Pepe, Bryce Fitch and Howard Hess, are complet- ing their senior year in the band. Several band members entered solo and group contests held by the Northeastern Indiana Band Association at Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne. IUNIOR PLAY The Class of '47 presented Tom- boy in the high school gymnasium, December 6 and 7. lt was a three- act comedy under the direction of Miss Enley. Delores Weaver played the lead part as the tomboy. Here Delores Fritz portrays the dressmalcer and the mother, Betty Steinbarger, are helping the two older girls, Eloise and Dorothy, played by Helen Gump and La Vern May, make alterations on their wed- ding gowns.
