BAND The sonorous tones that float to part of the building every day during the second period are a result of many students Ntootin' their own horns, Remember how well Morris Bracht interpreted 'The Old Huntervfand those shots! Would1i't it be great if we could all play our horns like Mr. Pressler plays his trombone. Max Vsfaterson went to the army shortly after the beginning of the second semester. We miss himg he is okay. During many of the home basketball games the wouldfbe Kruppas, hlameses, and Dorseys put rhythm in the teams with such numbers as ult Had to Be You and ls You ls or ls You Aint' as well as many snappy marches. Gontest time isn't far off, so let's get to our diet of rhythms and rests, l i Drum Majorettes Huntertown had two drum majorettes and two flag twirlers this year who helped the hand supply entertainment for various school activities. The flag twirlers, Norma Fox and Pauline Pulver wore white blouses and gold sltiits and the drum majorettes, Diane Amstut: and Peggy Hefty wore white blouses with black skirts. All four girls wore white majorette boots. Norma and Pauline are juniors this year while Peggy is a freshman. Diane, the youngest of the girls is only in the eighth grade. The girls were very capable of their positions and are expected to b: back next year. Norma Fox. Peggie Hefty, Diane Amstutz, Pauline Pulver 30

THE BLACK AND GOLD FLASH Keeping everyone posted on the latest news and activities of the school year is the Black and Gold Flash, which is published monthly by the journal- ism class. With little experience, but much en' thusiasm the thirteen lucky students started the Flash on its way. The Flash is successor of the Reflector, which folded up under the paper shortage three years ago. Proofreading, correcting and urging on this small staff is Miss Greenawalt, their noble inf structor. Associated editors of the Flash are Bette Moss and Jack Stone. Their duties are to see that stories are typed, counted and prepared on the dummy along with the advertising. Digging up the gossip and writing other feature stories were the feature writers, Jean Malcolm and Alice Por' ter. Gene Hadley and Glen Ott help keep every' one posted on the recreational side of school life by writing the Sport Scope. Hubert Hess took over Glen's job the second semester after Glen left the class. Other reporters on the staff include Betty Russell, james Sprunger, Violet Buchanan, Mary Ray, Dick Maloney and Keith Johnson. The circulation list was handled by Max Gross and Dolores Soule. The Flash is exchanged with seven other schools and copies are sent out each month to advertisers besides those copies which are given to the 220 subscribers. Printing for the Black and Gold Flash is done at the Truth Printing Company in Churubusco, which is an advantage over the miineographed papers. The subscription rate for the paper is thirty cents a semester or ten cents a single copy. Many 'people subscribed for the paper and sent them to boys in the service. Thirteen seemed to be a lucky number for the staff for there was never more than that amount in the class at one time. Besides publishing the paper the class last sem' ester sent mimeographed news letters to boys in service who had attended Huntertown High School.
