Wrestling The Wrestling team had another successful season this year. They started off by sweeping the Governor Livingston Holiday Tourney in December. After losing to Fairlawn by only two points the grapplers went on to win thirteen dual meets in a row. Four days after decking Franklin Township, 61-6, the Red Devils wrestled in the Passaic ValleyfWarren Hills Tournament and Central won both of its con- tests, defeating High Point 40-11 and Warren 38-11. Against High Point sophomore Len Leonardi began the day with a close 1-0 victory while wrestling at the 101lb. class. At 107lb., Nick Giacche also mastered his opponent at a 10-5 clip. Junior Mike Darlington picked up the pace with a hard-earned pin in 4:29, competing at the 114lb. slot. Senior Eric Trautman, however, was dealt with a tough 1-5 defeat at 121. Wrestling at 128lb., Sabol responded by man-handling his opponent, 10-0, which brought the Devils' lead to 16-3. High Point, however, then pounded on sophomore Eric Lange 16-3 at 134. The tables were turned yet again when Chris Gaul, competing at the 140lb. slot defeated his man 6-1. Senior Gino Troisi wrestled a close match at 147lb., managing to win 6-3. Some of the heavy weights showed their prowess on Valentine's Day. With the help of the lighter weights the grapplers wrestled to their fifteenth win. The hosting pioneers were shot down 39-11 by the flaming devils. Senior Kevin Sabol while wrestling at 129lb. led the Devils mid-way through the meet with his 12-2 major decision. Senior Tim Mulligan contribut- ed also with his 135lb. victory. Wrestling at the 141lb. class, junior Chris Gaul then decked his opponent with a fall time of 2:39. Senior, Chris Fusco, added three more points to central's sum with his 4-2 decision over his 148lb. partner. At the district seventeen meet the Red Devils Wrestlers also fared very well in the District 17 meet, Seniors, Gino Troisi and Jeff Lange all came in first in their weight divisions. Todd Crocco Ken Puttlitz, Cory Kubinak, Kevin Sabol and newcomer Nick Giacche and Len Leonardi all came in second in their weight class. Senior Eric Traut- man and three time veteran Mike Darlington came in third. It was a successful season for the red devil grapplers, but unfortu- nately many of those who made this season a winning one will be Varsity, Front Row QL-RD: L. Leonardi, N. Giachi, M.
