Worried eighth graders glanced nervously at the looming Red Devil in the field house on that cold January morning. Men in three-piece suits gave us warnings and confusing directions. The upper classmen ridiculed us as we trekked from building to building in our alphabetized groups. lt was hard enough picturing ourselves attending Central, let alone graduating from it in four years. The size as well as the many course offerings and extra-curricular activities overwhelmed us. That was more than four years ago on eighth grade Orientation Day. After that long, frightening ordeal, we happily went back to our grammar schools, but not for long. Freshman year began and we knew that we were here to stay. We all made lots of new friends and had many new and exciting experiences. Climbing up hills, over rocks, and across rivers to gather and identify rocks and fossils was more fun than work when we went on our two science field trips. Although our freshman class never had a field day, we more than made up for it with individual team activities. lt was 2fStudent Life
