Get Bill Shakespeare off the Stage! This year's Lower School Play was entitled Get Bill Shakespeare Off The Stage! The Comedy was written by Joseph Robinette and presented in the Little Theatre on February 3, 4, and 5. The story centered around a first-year drama teacher, Fran Caldwell, who tried to produce a collection of excerpts from Shakespeare for the annual school play. The students disliked the idea and when repeated attempts to convince her to change the play failed, the actors secretly met and decided among themselves to change the original script to a spoof of Shakespeare. At a disasterous rehearsal, the students performed their version. Miss Caldwell finally yielded to their wishes and allowed the students to perform the comic play of their choice, Court ls Adjourned. As the actors rehearsed they realized how silly the new play was and the importance of Shakespeare's writings. On opening night, Miss Caldwell was again surprised, but this time pleasantly, as her students performed the original Shakespearean excerpts Shakespeare Tonight both to her delight and that of the audience. 200fLowerschool Play
