Wrestling The I982-83 Hunterdon Central wrestling team completed the dual-meet season with a I3-O record, the seventh time that Russ Riegel's team have posted an unbeaten campaign. At the outset of the year, the club was ranked I8th in the state and loaded with potential. At the present time, the club is participating in the state Group IV championships and has climbed all the way to eighth in the Star-Ledger State Poll. The mainstays of the 82-83 squad were senior Denis Grady CL35-l4ID with a I9-l records and juniors Tony Malba CIISD at 200, Fred CBroncoj Herrmann Cl48D at I9- l and Todd CAnimalD Patton CITOD at I9-l. Other starters on the team were Seniors Glenn Mark CI88J at I2-3-I and Rich York Chwt.j at 3-8, iuniors Steve Winget CI29-l35j at I6-4, Jim Agresti 0585 at 3-6, Kevin lnglin Cl88-hwt.D at 3-3 and Greg Troise Qll5-l22j at 9-54 Sophomore Bill Rehl ClO8j at 8-4 and Freshman Kip Winget CIOID at ll-5 and Joe Malba CI22- I29j at IOS. Heading into the sectional championships, the wrestlers were ranked first in the Courier-News poll, and l72fWrestling 'ii in the top five by the Eastonlfxpress and the Trentonian. The team's performance this year enabled Coach Riegel to post 390th career victory and also gave the Devils the Mid-State Conference title in its first season as a member of the new league with a 9-O mark. Based on the team's important win over arch-rival North Hunterdon and its Nl t.., . , , .tt. tt.. .........-ta. 29-22 victory over Voorhees, they headed into District I7 and Region Competition confident of yet another good showing. Both Denis Grady and Todd Patton were second in the state championship. ln the final state coaches ranking, Central was ranked fifth in the state.
