Sfudenf Counci The Student Council is the representative student government whose members are elected by the student body. The services of the Coun- cil have been numerous. Perhaps the most memorable activity is -the Christmas party held for the children at the Hopewell Orphanage. Also, due to the success of having a foreign ex- change student in our school last year, -spon- sored by the Key Club, this year we have the pleasure of entertaining our charming guest, Kertsi Svensen. Kit, who is from Sweden, has been staying at the home of a Student Coun- cil member, Dolores Lotz, throughout the school year. Other activities include the construction of a sports bulletin board, raising funds for the new scholarship program begun this year, and promoting a clothing drive for the needy child- ren in the South. Wi-th such success behind it, the Council will continue to serve the school and bring honor -to Hunterdon Central. .-....... ......,w........ 2 Frrst row left to rrght Margaret Ann Grlheany Reggr Kurz Ellnott Topkms Bev Swartley Steve Case Elame Anderson Bob Mmer Scott Bacheler and Ed Tuller Second row Mrs Zuegner Advxsor Dru Zrch Nancy Frsher Betty jean Brokaw Dolores Lotz Franny Strohaber Gall Hew Kxt Svensen jrm Lane Bruce jackson Conrad Eberstem Denms Hoff Denms Tomasello Doug Berryman and Mr Strohaber Advrsor Thxrd row Rosalmd Rosenble th Renate Geberl Sherry Grace joan Hvezda Kathy Mrner Gene Brzek Jlm Tatman Claude Dnlts john Melfy Kelth Kelderlxng Last row Judy Schaefer Llbby Bacheler Dxane Bylcxw Martha Huff Kathy Mrller Roger Welsh Bnan Drennon, Rrchard Czahor Davrd Dllts Bruce Holcombe X2ClltlUe t 'x Left to rrght Ellrott Topkms Vxce Presrdent Elame And erson Correspondrng Secretary Steve Case Presrdent Beverly Swlrtley Recording Secretary and Robert Mmer Treasurer Our Swxshmcks mn the Bundle Drlve 75 jlfff '- fl ... 2. 1 i 1 5 5 lf One of the Key Club s water skung trrps 1 1 E 11' is 3- Jc, cm SERVICE 15 the prlmary funct1on of the Hun terdon Central Hrgh School Chapter of the Internatronal Key Club Its membershlp con s1sts of boys who have done well 1n the held of servrce both for the school and the communzty Due to 1ts success last year ln th forexgn student program through vyhlch we had the pleasure of belng host to frlc Shrnseltl from Kauai H vyau our school has become an actrve partlc :pant rn the exchange of forengn students sponsored by the Amerncan Freld Servnce Serv mg at banquets and yyatchrng doors at sportmg eyents are among nts other numerous projects Each year rt runs an ant1 vandallsm clmpargn on Halloyx een culmmated by a party IU the gym The Key Club IS an orgamzatlon dedrcated to the slogan We Bulld Buxldrng and leader sh1p are as 1mportant as aldrng a growrng communrty ..--Ill Servlce wnth a smxle' 'N Rght thx way mxster ou e gmt m 0 bl, 'iff '- . . . n Q X . . Q Libby Bacheler, Mary Ercolano, Kathy Miner and Beverly Swartley. This year the ECHO inaugurated what is hoped to become a new tradition in H.C.H.S. - - a Homecoming Queen. Five clubs sub- mitted slates of candidates consisting of a Sen- ior, a junior, a Sophomore, and a Freshman. From these were elected a Senior Queen and her three attendants. Participating were the Varsty Club, THE LAMP, The Pholotgraphy Club, the Student Council, and the Cheer- leaders. On Wednesday, November 15, the entire stu- dent body voted for the candidates of their choice based on beauty, ability, and merit. Then during the half time at the Thanksgiving Day football game, the winners - Bev Swartley, Seniorg Mary Ercolano, juniorg Kathy Miner, Sophomore, and Libby Bacheler, Freshman - were announced and driven onto the field in convertibles. At the dance held later that eve- ning, the Queen was officially crowned and given a large bouquet of roses, as were her three attendants. 6 . , In ,i Q.
