ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS Mr. Nikki Helms, who graduated from Appalachian State University, is serving his first year as an assistant principal at Hunter Huss. His duties include buses, discipline, and school maintenance. Mr. George Jaggers, a graduate of North Carolina A T, has filled the position of assistant principal for four years. He has many duties ranging from book reports and student absences to discipline and early dismissals. SECRETARIES Mrs. Brenda Turlington, who has served as secretary at Huss for sixteen years, has become an indispensable member of the office staff. She performs all of her varied duties very efficiently, making her a valuable asset to the staff. Mrs. Maude Ramsey has serves as a secretary at Huss for five years. Among her duties are the attendance reports and absentee lists. She has indeed shown her importance as a member of the office staff. 23

PRINCIPAL Mr. Russel Clark is now in his fourth year as principal of Hunter Huss High School. Centering his attention on education, Mr. Clark taught at Huss for several years, became a member of the faculty of Ashley Jr. High School in 1970, and then served as principal of Southwest Jr. High School in 1972-1975. He returned to Huss in 1976 to fill the position of principal. In these few years Mr. Clark has shown much concern for the students through his continued work in student affairs.

GUIDANCE COUNSELORS In his second year at Huss, Mr. Dean Brown counsels seniors. is in charge of scholarships. processes college applications. and informs students of college opportunities. He is also in charge of the Student Government Association and the Inter-Club Council. ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Mrs. Janet Green, who received her Master's Degree from Western Carolina University. serves as the sophomore counselor. She spends most of her time placing students in special programs, helping students with academic as well as personal problems, and registering students. Mr. Ray Benton, a graduate of Western Carolina University, received his Master’s Degree from Winthrop College. He serves as a junior counselor and spends much of his time working with student schedules and informing students of career and educational opportunities. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Serving as athletic director for seven years. Mr. Don Saine is in charge of coordination of all the sports at Huss. Along with his duties as athletic director, he is also the head football and baseball coach. Mr. Saine succeeds in making competition and sportsmanship an important part of the athletic program. Mrs. Sue Sellers, a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College, has served as administrative assistant to Mr. Clark for six years. In addition to teaching in the business department, she gives assistance in the office each morning by making announcements and admitting late students. 24
