WOMEN'S .IV VOLLEYBALL C3-33 After losing all 5 games last year in its inaugural season, the JV team won 3 this season under rookie coach KATHLEEN WERNS. It was very gratifying to see the players improve throughout the season, WERNS explains. When we beat Queensboro Con October 9thJ I noticed that we had really come together as a team. Two players, CARMEN TIESO and NICOLE HILAIRE, spent some time with the varsity and were starters for WERNS. Middle blockers KATHIE REICH and TRACEY MCDERMOTT, and setters BRENDA ZAMBRANO and SHARON KAHN, rounded out the usual starting team. LOUDS SAMPSON and BRINY CACERES also saw substantial playing time. MEN'S WRESTLING C16-55 Just another typical, outstanding season for veteran coach BOB GAUDENZI. Three wrestlers, FABIAN THOMPSON C1185, DENNIS MARKOU C1585, and JIM GORMAN C1675 qualified for NCAA Nationals. GORMAN, a co-captain, who posted a 15-4 dual meet record, came back from Wheaton, Illinois as an All-American. He also took the Met- ropolitan Championship at 167 and was voted the tournament's Outstanding Wres- tler. The other co-captain, senior RICH COLBERT, posted a near-perfect 19-1 dual meet record and finishes his career as Hunter's all-time leading dual meet winner C555. Also producing outstanding seasons were 118 lb. sophomore RON SINACORE C13-5-15 and freshman 142 lb. BRYAN MIRABELLA C13-15, HWT RAY FOLMER C9-15, and 167 lb. KEVIN KENNEDY C11-75. HU-IEE
