lmvvsgiydg H. fbw Six l fgliaguy This Cruise Book is designed to help you recall our deployment to Guam-I trust that when you look through it in later years it will bring back pleasant memories. We visited three of the best liberty ports in the Pacific and made a lot of Shellbacks While enroute to FBM Replenishment Site III. Obviously the book is incomplete. It doesn't document the work that went into prepara- tions for the trip, it doesn't record the long and tedious hours spent in grooming the Engineering Plant fboth in port and underwayj, it doesn't reflect the many hours inventorying some fifty thousand spare parts, nor does it cover all the painting, laying of new deck tile, remodeling of spaces, mess-cooking and all the other hard work that took place between Charleston and Guam. The end result of all this is that We arrived in Guam in better shape than we left Charleston. No single person, or group, deserves credit for this-it was a team effort all the Way. Without the enthusiastic support of All Hands the deployment could not have been made in the fine style that it Was. This book is dedicated to a thoroughly professional group of sailors-the officers and men who served in the United States Ship HUNLEY during the period 16 August to 14 October 1971.
