Soccer team com- pleted the 1959 season with a record of two wins and five losses. The high point of the season came on October 14 when Ronnie Jakes scored two goals to upset Peddie School 2-1. The team continued its winning ways as it swamped Pennington 3-O. John F ortunato scored twice and Marc Efron once. Varsity coach McNamara showed considerable interest in the improvement of the team. With the Varsity squad being hit hard by graduation, many 1959 j.V. booters will advance to the Varsity. Backfield stalwarts Ed Halsey, Harry Ward, and Larry Greenield are considered good prospects, as are linemen Marc Efron, Rick Gallaudet, and Bruce Wolfe.

Varsity Soccer The 1959 fall season was one of great suc- cess for the Red and Black soccer team. Not only did it turn in a winning season, but also five of its members, Khalid Faisal, Bendar Faisal, Lou D'Ambrosio, Jim Pietrinferno, and Pete Clark, were selected for All-State Soccer Teams. Khalid Faisal, highest scorer in the state with 21 goals, was also selected All- State by the Coaches Association, which in- cludes both prep schools and public schools. Although the team had eight returning Var- sity men this year, it had little depth. The in- juries of such stars as Jim Pietrinferno and Captain John Reed were a great loss to the team. Nevertheless, with the hard Arabian core, Abduhl, Bendar, and Khalid Faisal. and such assets as Lew Wilson, Gary Rottenberg, Pete Clark, and Captain Lou D'Ambrosio, the team always managed to offer its rivals strong, and many times defeating, opposition. To say that the team alone achieved success would be to tell only half the story, because a great deal of credit is due to the new coach, Mr. McNamara. Mr, Mac put his heart and soul into every game. Out of this evolved a firm desire to win and a spirit such as the team had never known. With the exception of Pennington Prep, where Khalid Faisal scored his Turban Trick K5 goalsl. Hun's opponents this year were stronger than those in past years. Such games as Pennington High, B.M.l., Notre Dame, and Rider College were Hun's bv only one goal. Pingry was another victim I3-IJ, and there was a tie with the powerful Princeton Frosh Q2-Qi. Three of Hun's four losses this season came at the hands of Pennington High I3-63, Peddie flA3l, and George fl-25. Perhaps the most exciting was the game with our tra- ditional rival, Lawrenceville. It was ftradition- allyj a rainy, muddy day, and both teams were tied 2-2 in the last quarter when. with but thirtv seconds to go, the referee called a foul in Hun's penalty area, and Lawrenceville scored to win the game. The outlook for the 1960 season with Cap- tains Khalid Faisal and Jim Pietrinferno is very bright. Says Coach McNamara, We will have ten varsity lettermen returning next year, three of whom are All-State. Considering the loss of Hrst team members of other schools, our chances for winning the l96O New Jersey State Prep School Championship are very good! J
