The Cheerleaders On a Thursday afternoon before our first football game, Mike Hedstrom was discussing our chances for the morrowls game. Later that day, Mike gathered a small group of boys and suggested that an attempt at cheerleading be made. His words were . . . Since we won't be on the field tomorrow, letls do all we can for the school and the team by cheering for themf' As cheerleaders, we have kept this in mind ever since. The primary purpose of the cheerleaders is: To help spirit a team to victory, whether it be on the Held, or on the court or in a boat. As cheerleaders, we think we have helped school spirit immeasurably, and we 3 hope the spirit of the club will be carried on through the years by other classes. CHEER LEADERS LEAPING. L. TO R. - H. Chess Club Hun's Chess Club of sixteen members was under shaky auspices most of the year, since arrangements for meetings were usually indefinite. Chess meetings had to fit into the school's schedule when they would not interfere with such things as detention study hall, glee club, and sports. Nevertheless. most of the members managed to play the required one game a week. A new chess ladder was introduced this year, but it required members to play more games than they Could. Activities centered upon the Chess Team of five members who represented the school in the Dela- ware Valley Chess League, Those of the Chess Club who played in the league were Guy Frindell, Bob Whaley. Ronnie lakes, Dick Muller, Luis Costas, Robert M, Kaplan, Pete Spiller, and Abduhl Faisal. Photography Club With increased enthusiasm in making the Hun School darkroom a more pleasant place in which to work, Photography Club members, under the super- vision of Senor Juan Lopez, accomplished much to- ward a successful year of photography. Bruce Wolfe, Carroll Van Ness, and Fred Victoria built new equipment and repainted the cramped quarters. Contributing to both the MALL and the EDGER- STOUNIAN, Hun photographers worked day ant night, and even during the wee small hoursf' doing their utmost to please all concerned. including them- selves, very frequently, in the rush. they burned their hands with acetic acid, and very frequently were found in the darkroom at very embarrassing moments. For next year, underclassmen hope for even better working conditions, and possibly a new darkroom. PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB BACK ROW, l to r. - P. Spiller, D. Metzger, R. Muller. F. Victoria. Under the versatile and talented leadership of Mr. Kelsall Knot to mention the assistance of the Mrs.j, Glee Club members enjoyed their best year, with many concert tours, recitals, and related social activities. Par- ents, listeners, and members themselves agreed that this was the year a dramatic improvement took place. Mr. Kelsall also contributed his services and talent to the instruction of the Octet, which actually consisted of about a dozen of the better members. With so successful a year behind, the glee club looks forward to still greater suc- cess ahead.
