Hun 0 giibg' '42- , Mi , . ff' U Vetterlein serves. loss of a point. Delbarton fell before our racquets, 4-1. Pennington and Bryn Athyn were shut out. Our one loss was at the hands of the Lawrence- ville J.V.'s. In the George School Tournament we took all four consolation finals. Ending a 5-4 season, we went into the state tournament at Lawrenceville with slim hopes. In- dividually, we were not spectacular, but our team average ranked us 2nd for a satisfactory ring-down of the season's curtain. Next year Captain Vetterlein and Coach Gor- ham can hope for another winning season. Al- though seniors Dave Ditmars, John Wickes, and Gus Biddle will not be back, we have the nucleus for a strong varsity in Gaiy Rottenberg, Tim Cook, Marc Efron, and Ken Agle. Tennis, anyone? Ten Wickes returns. Prospects for a good tennis season this year were happily confirmed as the Hun racqueteers bap- tised our new all-weather courts and pleased our new coach, Mr. Sidney Gorham, with a winning season and a fine showing in the state tournament. It was our best record for tennis in years. In the opener against Delbarton, Rod Vetter- lein and Dave Ditmars, both newcomers, led the Red to a 3-2 victory. A loss to Peddie, 3-6, took the edge off our confidence, whetted our desire, and was followed by a satisfactory 8-1 win over B.M.I. The next week, although Vetterlein and Dit- mars, playing 1 and 2, won their singles, we bowed to St. Andrew's, 3-6. This was followed by a humiliating shut-out at the hands of the George School. But with a 2-3 record behind them, the Raiders staged a comeback, taking 3 of the remaining 4 matches, two of them without the BACK ROW, l. to r. -H H. Churchill, Churchill, B. Kantner, D. Fischer, J. Kitchel, D. Metzger, K. Agle, Mr. Gorham fcoachj. FRONT This yearls and next year's captains double to win.
