Lacrosse Confident of returning veteran players and after two seasons of building, Lacrosse Coach Hawley Water- man predicted that the 1960 Hun stickmen would be Hcontendersf, But pre-season factors including athletic ineligibility and drop-outs pared the original promis- ing sixty man squad to twenty-two. Of these only two wore letters. It looked like another shut-out season. But nobody gave up. The remaining red raiders really wanted to play lacrosse and Coach Waterman was tire- less in rebuilding a team. The result was Hun's most successful season since lacrosse was introduced. As expected, our green players lost to their initial opposition, dropping three in a row, first to the Maple- wood Lacrosse Club C3 to 13j, then by only one point to Lawrencville and to Scarsdale Lacrosse Club. In the fourth game we romped over Peddie, 8 to 1. Then we dropped two, our first league tilts of the season, bowing to Lawrenceville and to Scarsdale Lacrosse Club. In the fourth game we romped over Peddie, 8 to 1. Then we dropped two, our first league tilts of the season, bowing to Peekskill and to Brooklyn Poly Prep. But a decisive win over Rutgers' freshman Bn team raised Red spirits. After losing to Pingry, we edged N.Y.M.A. as the high point of the year and again beat Peddie before losing a fiery scrap to the Princeton Freshman B team, and conceding a hard-fought game to powerful Lawrenceville. High scorer for the season was Captain John Keffer with 15 goals and 5 assists. It was a team effort all the way, with prospects for a winning season in 1961. JV Middies Knowlton, LeBoutillier and Wedig face off in opener against Peddie, a 7 1 rout.
