1 T V! - 6 V . ,f-3-? , Hunis diamond nine racked up a win- ning season behind the pitching of Jay Maynell and Smokey Black, and with the help of good belting by Paul Savidge, Bill Gilman, Gary Grover, and Lou D'Am- brosio. The Raiders took most of their home games and suffered most of their de- feats away. But even the losses were mostly by a single run. Coach Squier Ball had rea- son to be satisfied. An easy victory over Bryn Athyn opened the season. lt took a loss at the hands of the George School A the most decisive loss of the season -,- to open our eyes. We dropped a close one next to Tower Hill, rallying in the last inning to bring the score up to 10--9. At home again we over- powered Germantown behind the two-hit pitching of Black, but in another close one, big Delbarton set us back 5-4. Next came impressive wins over Pennington and Sole- bury, with a return visit victory over Bryn Athyn to make it three in a row. Fred An- drew exhibited his old mound fire in that one, We had to sustain a loss to Peddie, a close one but unexpected against a weak team. Revenge against Delbarton before our dance weekend visitors and a 3-1 victory over Pingry climaxed the successful season, but were followed by losses to Admiral Far- ragut and Solebury. 108 Scores Bryn Athyn George ....
