Lou Hirsh was elected president because of his sound judgrnent and ability. Later the class elected Eduardo Lopez vice- president. As the year progressed, Freshmen joined in many sports. In the Fall, some of us were dominant in Intramurals, but others, such as Harvey Jacob, Don Sieja, Myron Easton, and Dave Penrose, were future prospects for the Varsity Football Team. Bruce Hendler, Steve Oppenheim, and Steve Gold- smith played J.V. Soccer. Others still participated in Fall Tennis. The Freshmen were out in force for Winter athletics. Some of us were down at the 'LYS pool swimming and diving, while others went fencing, wrestling, or played basketball at the gym. Freshmen were also situated in other activities. A few were on the Mall staff, and Bruce Hendler was Art Editor and Copy Editor of the Edgerstounian while others contributed pictures and articles to the yearbook. Other Freshmen, who were not so literary, preferred the Glee Club or the Chess Club. The class placed two students on the Honor Roll. They were Lou Hirsh and George johnson. A few had near-Honor averages. If expectations hold out, the freshmen, who possess a great potential, should develop into a strong and influential class in years to come. 99
