Hilton, R. Appel- routh, J. Cantwell, Manager S. Kagan. Hun School 's football team of the 1954 sea- son was small but had a lot of fight. At times, the little squad, led by Co-captains Bill Holden and Jim Lavan, showed remarkable spiritg and, naturally, these were the times when Hun made its best showing on the gridiron. The team had two new coaches this season. They were head coach and backfield specialist, Robert Ball, and line coach, Don Jann, both of whom are now studying at the Princeton Theological Seminary. Under their able instructions the inexperienced team quickly learned the fundamentals of the gameg and shortly thereafter molded them selves into a squad of 1002, teamwork. A few of their opponents were out of our class but on the whole the team did a noteworthy job. The season was not one of great success but we didwin a pair of games, our losses being just double. We also up- set undefeated Solebury School, our traditional rival. At the end of the season awards were given out to the players who stood out in various fields of the game. Doug Wood was given the award for the outstanding lineman and everyone agreed that he well deserved it. The outstanding backfield man in the coaches and everyone elses opinion was Jim Lavin. Bob Edwards was voted the most improved player.

Hun 14 Morristown 13 This was Hun's best game of the season. Each teammate worked his hardest. We gained the lead in the second quarter as Bill Holden snared an Edwards' pass and bulled his way into the end zone for Hun's first touchdown of the season. Holden followed his six-pointer with a conversion. This gave Hun a seven point edge. Later on the score had been 7-6 for a short time, Bob Applegate intercepted a pass setting up a score for Wayne Anderson. Holden again converted making it 14-6. Having an eight point advantage Coach Ball emptied the bench during the last minute of the game. Hun 12 Solebury 6 This match was held on the muddy Hun School gridiron. Solebury being our traditional rival our boys did their best and upset the prev- iously undefeated team. Dave Keffer was the stellar performer as he intercepted a pass and reeled off eight eight yards for a score, winning the game for Hun. Hun 0 Byrn Athyn 20 Hurricane Hazel was the deciding factor in this tilt, for Hun couldn't use its passing attack in the raging wind. The opponents were prim- arily a running outfit and demonstrated it, al- though we almost equaled them in total yardage gained. The outstanding performer for Hun was Ken Hovey with his exceptional defensive work.
