SENIOR CLASS WILL We, the class of 1958, being of sound mindfwe hope, and body, do bequeath the following traits, talents, and maladjustments to you, the underclassmen and hope that you will be able to use them in the future as well as we have in the past I, Wayne Richman, will to Jack Langford my ability to get out of study halls, and my ability to be late with physics assignments to all those 'lucky souls who take physics I, Dick Davidson, will my ability to get along with the teachers to Jerry Street, and oh yes! my ability to recite poems for Miss Roach to Jerry Street also, in hopes it will keep him off the failing list as it has done me I, Willis Wishmeyer, will my ability to stay out of school on the days we are going to track meets to Chuck Lewis, knowing he will love those days most I also will my Friday attendance record to Raymond Storm I, Jim Garton, will my ability to sleep in all the study halls to Larry Karn in hopes he gets as much enjoyment out of it as I didl' Also my slim, trim physique to Chunk Chunk I, Joe Dent, will my ability to break physics equipment to Louie Wagner, who does all right now Also my ability to try and leave school the 8th period to take care of duck eggs to Larry Karn I, Donna Smith, will my ability to get kissed while crossing bridges on senior skip day and tearing boys shirts to Judy burfus Also, my low, meek, mild voice to Mr Fuller in hopes he will use it wisely I, Tom Merrick, will my ability to control my temper to Anita it will bring her a harmonious senior year, my extreme weight to hoping it will keep him from becoming puny in the future Also, cool, calm temperament to Miss Roach in hopes she won't crack up Greer, hoping Lisle Smith, I will my I, Lee McCombs, will my side burns and voatee to Mr Spiess, in hopes he enjoys them as much as I did And I also will my physics book to Craig Street in hopes it does him more good than it did me I, Jerold Sheets, will my nick name 'Heron to Larry Karn and my ability to sleep to Larry Pry in hopes he will enjoy more night life I, Jean Trisler, will my natural blond hair to Janice Rickert so she won have to bleach it any more I also will my ability to not cry at ball names I, Karen Throckmorton, will my curly hair to Dottie Lou, and my steady, dependable character to Dwight Snyder, in hopes he will make as good use of it as I have I, Loretta Davenport, will my ability to keep quiet to Eugenia Evans and hope it doesn't get her into as much trouble as it did me, also my extreme height to Chris Jensen He certainly needs it I, Rheta Uarton, will my ability to get extra large Christmas the Christmas drawing at school to Jerry Hansen I also will my walk to Donna McIntosh I, Carolyn Langford, will my ability to wear a French knot to and my ability to correspond with a certain person in California Gardner I, Carlene Jensen, will my ability to go steady for more than presents graceful Janet Boyd, to Carol one month to Mike Mitchell, and also my ability to stay out oi trouble most of the time to Carla Roe Lewis Hickok, will my ability to stay out of trouble to Charles Exley J R Surfus, will my ability to get to school on time to Larry Fry Jan Lyman, will my full oil barrel to Larry Gwinn because I know he needs it We, Jan, Lewis and J R will our ability to take Freshmen outside of town and dump them and as a result, get suspended for it to Chris Jensen, Richard Jackson, and Larry Surfus I, Ron Moon will my ability of driving a bread truck to Jerry Hansen, knowing he needs something that big, and also my ability to the football team to Jack Langford, knowing he could use it We, Carlene, Karen, Rheta, and Jean, will our basketball Boyd, Glenys Davenport, Layola Williamson and Mary frisler, put forth the effort to deserve to wear them call signals on suits to Janet in hopes they will We, Carolyn, Loretta, and Donna, the other three girls in the senior class of l9S8, will our ability to make too much noise in the hotel room at 2 OO in the A M to whomever can do it without getting bawled out as we did. SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY The year is l97O, and a iormer Humeston principal decides to take a world tour Of course, we mean Mr Spiess, who helped the class of '58 get out and is now professor at Fort Madison University Professor Spiess takes off in his private rocket headed for Australia In Australia, he goes to a kangaroo boxing match He sees Coach Wavne Richman in action with Janet Boyd, his lovely wife, sitting near by She always wanted to marry a coach In Russia, the next stop, the professor sees Tom Merrick Tom studied to be a mortician and then joined the famed soprano, Ruth Goodwin, as her accompanist They toured the world as a man wife musical team As a mor tician, Tom takes care of Russians who are no longer needed On to Italy, and, in a pizza factory, the professor meets Jerold Sheets Jerold's wife, Virginia, nee Milliner, had sugvested that they start a pizza factory in Italy In Africa the prof finds Rheta Garton She cave up her nursing career to join Jim in Congo Bongo, Africa where they and their six boys have start ed a creamery for undernourlshed children The professor ventures on to Greenland where he sees Donna Smith Exle and her husband Charles, who have devoted their lives to science They are now working on a cure for the terrible malady, the common COLD In Washington D C the prof finds Senator Jan Lyman, a former pupil always noted for his promptness Jan had been the pres1dent's body and fen der man and married the president's daughter Next stop Miami, Florida and the Surfus Museum, where J R and his wife, the former Jerry Stiles have their Olympic trophies displayed Their four future Olympians are busy dusting trophies In Chicago the professor decides to consult a doctor for his laryngitis By coincidence he chooses Dr Lee McCombs, a Chicago resident, with his wife Karen Also in Chicago, the prof visits nwild B1ll's Butcher Shoppe, where Lewis Hickok and his wife, Jean, are keeping their noses to the meatblock to support their four children On to Wisconsin the prof decides to loose weight and arrives at 'Moon's D1et1c1an's Salon Ron Moon and his wife, Mary White Moon, operate the 'Salon' where Ron is his own best customer In California, the professor finds Carolyn Langford, a former medical secretary, now raising her own future secretaries Hawaii is the next stop where he hears of Richard Davidson whose 'ham radion friendship with a Russian prevented a third world war In a large accounting office in Bear's Nest, Montana, the professor finds Joe Dent employed Joe lost hdna Murrow on the last day of school but eventually married the 1962 Iowa U homecoming queen The professor now flies back to Iowa for a visit to Humeston Among the changes he finds is a new super 8 lane highway between Humeston and Cambria This was built by Jim Garten while waiting for Janice Sheets to finish school He finds Loretta Davenport on a large five little Tubbs In nearby Garden Grove the prof finds coach, now raising her own basketball team At Iowa State College, the prof meets Leffler She was formerly Carlene Jensen Professor Spiess then returns to Fort farm in Wayne County raising her Karen Throckmorton, a former the Dean's wife, Mrs Samuel Madison, where he is serving 20 years that is a teaching contract for 20 years He is heartened to know that his class of '58 turned out so well as he had always known they would from their perfect attendance record g . e e I ' u e e e e ' . g ' 1, l LJ O . e ,., O Y e e e e , - J 0 e e 1 O e e U ll e I N 0 e O l . -u v 0 e O . - O V e C I e ' e e e I 0
