Richard GIRLS BASKETBALL SUMMARY Derby Russell Lineville Allerton LeRoy Cambria Garden Grove Seymour Knoxville Q6 Murray Garden Grove Lamoni Corydon Lineville Allerton Cambria Cambria Derby Weldon Garden Grove The Wildkittens finished the season compiling a record of lu wins and 6 loses and winning second place in the Sectional. The offense had a total of 896 points while the defense allowed Sul. In the 20 game-season the offensive average was MS points per game and the defensive average was M2 points. Rheta Garton led the Humeston attack in scoring followed by co-captain Karen Throckmorton. The best defensive players were co-captain Carlene Jensen and Jean Trisler. All state Honorable Mention was given to Jean Trisler, at guard and Rheta Garton, at forward. Four regular letterwinners were lost by graduation. They were Rheta Garten, Jean Trisler, co-captain Carlene Jensen and co-captain Karen Throckmorton. The remaining letterwinners can definitely look forward to a good season to come. Returning letterwinners will be: Jane Ellen Sponsler, Judy Surfus, Anita Greer, Sandra Garton, Carla Roe, Norma Smith, Sharron McGuire, and Sara Caldwell.

The highpoint of the season came in the consecutive vic- tories over LeRoy and Cambria. Letterwinners who will be lost by graduation include J.R Surfus, Honorary Captaing Lewis Hickok and Ron Moon. Also lost will be Richard Swartz, a junior letterwinner who moved away. Returning lettermen include Dennis McGuire, Mike Mitchel Larry Rickert, Bob Crawford, Chris Jensen, and Larry Fry. The leading scorer of the season was Mike Mitchell, with J.R. Surfus second. Mitchell was also the leading rebounder. The team scored a total of 703 points to 1099 for the opposition. 1
