The Wildcats -cored 87 points to 70 for runner-up Garden Grove. The track team participated in five outdoor and one indoor meet during the season. The opening meet was the State Indoor at Iowa City in March. After being snowed out of a proposed trip to the Oskaloosa Relays, the Humeston boys won a dual meet from Allerton and then took 3rd. place in the Wayne County Meet held at Seymour. The Wildcats then journeyed to Villisca for the Villisca Relays where they made a creditable showing. The next outing was the Con- ference meet where the defending champions won again. The season ended with a 6th. place finish among the Class C schools in the District Meet at West Des Moines. Gary wagner, a senior, was named honorary captain for the season. Track letterwinners included seniors, Gary Wagner, Ron McVey and Don Kasper, Juniors, J.R. Surfus, Wayne Richman, Lewis Hickok and Lee McCombs, and sophomores, Richard Swartz and Dennis McGuire.
