LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the graduating class of 1956 of Humes High School, 659 N. Manassas Street, City of Memphis, State of Tennessee, with sound of unsound minds, to make our Last Will and Testament. ARTICLE I Section I. To Mr. Brindley, who has learned more about us than anyone else, we leave our most sincere wish that he will NEVER tell what he knows. Section II. To Miss Richmond we leave a truck load of dismissal slips to replace the ones we used this year. Section III. To Miss Blunt we leave next year's Seniors in hopes they won't worry her half as much as we have. ARTICLE II Section I. To Miss Jennie Allensworth we leave her students who have the ability to stay awake in class. Section II. To Mr. C. C. Jones we leave our addresses so he may now know where to find us. Section III. To Miss Helen Lochrie we leave ham actors so that they may make a bigger uproar than we. Section IV. To Mr. Keathley Presgrove we bequeath a cot to make his sleeping easier. Section V. To Miss Mildred Scrivener we leave a set of fine f?J Juniors to take the Seniors place in the Y-Teens. Section VI. To Miss Margaret Thompson we leave so her afternoon classes may have their morn- ings devoted to their beloved English. ARTICLE III Section I. Annette Watson, Peggy Armstrong, and Glenda Roberts leave their ability to talk in Miss Jennie's English class and get away with it to Bonnie Talbert and Many Lena Humphries. Section II. Robert Haire, Ray Eastman, and Jerry Haynie leave hoping that Coach Hathcock can recruit some tall boys for next year's basketball team. Section III. Mary Ruth Tillman, Peggy Parks, and Patsy Patterson leave to join Buzzy, Orville, and Reed. Section IV. Jerrold Dewease, Jerry Stell, and Lionel Spaulding leave their places in Miss Fisher's trig class to Susie Garrett, Charles Coscia, and Duncan McBryde. Section V. Beverly Birmingham and Herbert Armes leave their seats to anyone who unguardedly enrolled in second year Spanish. Section VI. Ronnie Bledsoe, Sonny Sanders, and James Matheny leave their fighting K ?J spirit to next year's Tigers. Section VII. George Pierce leaves hoping there will be someone to take his place as photographer on the Herald Staff. Section VIII. Dennis Chew, Tommy Mathis, and Phil Malone leave a box of aspirin to Miss Vir- ginia Alexander in hopes she will forgive them for worrying her so. Section IX. Sandra Nelson, Eugene Bradberry, Joe Raburn,,and Gigi Poston leave in hopes there will be someone to take their places next year in the band. Section X. Cynthia Neal and Jo Lynn Palmer leave their places as the only girls in the physics class to some lucky Juniors. Section XI. Barry Houston, Howard Leaptrott, John Cole, and Leonard Yates leave wondering if this can be true. Section XII. Denny Dendrines and Kostas Taras leave their unusual names to Joe Smith and J. C. Smith in hopes they will trade even. Section XIII. Ruth McPhail, Shirley Winters, and Arthur Barbee leave their places as reporters on the Herald Staff to some lucky undergraduates. Section XIV. LaVerne Kolivas, James Mitchell, James Burress, Don Newton, Billy Ramsey, and Robert Wiggins leave their monstrous height to David May, Charles Crutchfield, Ray Stacks, John Sanderson, Don Oliver, and Fred Fredrick. Section XV. Olivia Bell, Bobby Crum, Gordon Jones, Evelyn Hall, and Dorothy Hatley leave all the gum under their desks to the custodian. Section XVI. Carolyn Black, Barbara Brauer, Barbara Wade, and Martha Max leave their short- hand notes for Mrs. Garren to decode during the summer months. Section XVII. Frances Gatewood, Ima Jean Gatewood, Peggy Guthrie, and Barbara Dublin leave their places in the Honor Society to next year's boys. Section XVIII. Teddy Lawrence and Tommy Henry leave their secret of how to skip school to anyone who thinks he can get away with it. Section XIX. Charles McSwain, Roy Nolen, and Neil Parris leave their ability to skip class and think of an excuse in less than a minute to R. B. Everett, Edward Biggs, and John Lloyd. Section XX. Diane English leaves her book of 1001 Excuses for Being Late for Class to Jane Wright. Section XXI. Ruth Van Hooser leaves her place on the cheering squad to her little sister, Becky. Section XXII. Willa Fern Franks and Norma Lawrence need everything they have so they are just leaving. Section XXIII. Faye Jamison and Susie Crutchfield leave their friendship to Pat Caldwell and Betty Lyons. Section XXIV. Kay Owen, Gary Moore, Patricia Williams, and Jo Nell Johnson leave their talent in drawing to anyone who thinks he is good enough to take their place.

Section XXV. Thomas Graves leaves all but 500 pounds of his weight to Bobby Cruthirds to make sure he is anchored to the earth. Section XXVI. Mitzi Diepholz, Loy Dennington, and Barbara Hammonds leave their love for foot- ball to anyone patriotic enough to sit out in the rain. Section XXVII. Loretta Harding, Howard Ferguson, Robert Pittman, and Carole Masserano leave hoping there will be a band next year. Section XXVIII. Jim Bramlitt, Joyce Arrington, Ruth Nunn, and Hazel Herrman leave their ability to have a good time at anytime and anywhere to Delores Chew, Bonnie Sanford, and Gail Clay. Section XXIX. Richard Kosakov leaves his English wise-cracking to Jimmy Clark. Section XXX. Jerry Murphy, Ovid Bridgewater, Jack Berressem, and Jack Calhoun leave their little black books to anyone who can keep up with them, Section XXXI. Loretta Carson, Shelby Blackley, and Yoe Yeaner Ingram leave their reputation for being short to anyone of like stature. Section XXXII. Don Weakley, Richard Murdock, and Gary Saripkin leave their golden horns to Don Armstrong, Don Morrow, and Jimmy McGarrah. Section XXXIII. Joyce Wilson, Mary Lynn Wilson, John Withers, Ruby Womble, and Julia Yates leave their names to anyone who likes to be last on the roll. Section XXXIV. Lionel Bethea wills his locker including the mice to Miss Hatcher. Section XXXV. Josie Kee, Ruth Moore, Nellie Young, Betty Fryor, and Barbara Herd leave their quietness in class to Barbara Brower, Eugenia Tisdale, Barbara Dudley, Charlotte Neal, and Frances Freeman. Section XXXVI. Bill Jacobie, Danny McKinney, Beverly Keith, and Yvonne Nolen leave their ability to get out of class to anyone who can try it and is lucky enough to get by with it. Section XXXVII. Jerry Baker, Jimmy Duncan, Thomas Mulligan, and Frank Underwood leave their ability to get along with the teachers to anyone who can make the teachers think they have their homework. Section XXXVIII. Ann Lucas, Barbara Lunsford, Frederica Russell, Stanley Cooper, Jimmy Dallas, and Jimmy Poor leave because they have to. Section XXXIX. Mary Frances Tramel, Bobby Deen, Johnnie Branham, Paul Pearson, and Leland Welden will their study habits to anyone who burns the midnight oll. Section XL. Neil Nicar, Vivian Holliman, Betty Ann Davis, Josephine Norton, and Aubrey Rust leave to join the Seniors. Section XLI. Alan Lind, Barbara Barron, Ann Braddock, Virginia Cherry, and Anneice Collums leave their seats in Miss Jennie's homeroom to next year's most prominent five. Section XLII. Sharon Arendale, Willie Wiginton, Virginia Craft, Jimmy Gates, Barnie Dycus, and Nolen Harper leave their long trip to school to anyone who has lots of time and a warm coat. Section XLIII. Marilyn, Patsy, Toney, and Major leave taking their names with them as there are a number of Davises in the school. A Section XLIV. Jim Jeffries, Myra Bluestein, Sara Crihfield, and Ella Kay Given leave a good repu- tation for their little sisters to live up to. Section XLV. Billy Daniels, Joyce Countess, Nancy Evans, and Joy Deckelman will Mr. Jones to a private detective agency. Section XLVI. Ann Crossett, Kay Fallin, and Frances Fitzgerald leave their seats in 12.2 homeroom to Patricia Easley, Peggy Furr, and Sherry Roe. Section XLVII. Jean Little, Ann Lloyd, Elizabeth Leslie, Beverly Leach leave their ability to keep Mr. Presgrove awake during homeroom to next year's 12-4's. Section XLVIII. The following leave to form the 2 by 2 club: James and Marguerite Royal, Susan and Shirley Taylor, Dale and Harriet Smith, and Sylvania and Beverly Lewis. Section XLIX. Judy Ingram and Carolyn Williams leave their ability to sneak pass the monitors to go to lunch early to anyone brave enough to try it. Section L. Jimmy Lampley and Louis Kullman leave their ability to blow the lab up to next year's Chemistry students. Section LI. Marilyn Trimble, Sandra Lawrence, and Iva Lou Poole leave their hair pins to next year's hair dressers. Section LII. Edgar McDaniel leaves his spark in Mr. Taylor's Electric Shop to Harvey Anderson. Section LIII. Joe Massey and Billy Patterson leave to go to college. Section LI V. Linda McBride and Beverly McFadin leave to join the Mc's. Section LV. Ruby Sasser leaves all the books to be put on the shelves in the library to Peggy Johnson. Section LVI. Phyllis Simmons leaves her job as accompanist to anyone who has courage enough to stand it. Section LVII. Crosby Welden leaves taking his brother with him. Section LVIII. Polly Thorn leaves her red hair and personality to her little sister, Peggy. Section LIX. Ruby Valentine leaves to change her name to Valentino. Section LX.
