Dorothy Bunning I Class Adviser ..................... Miss Bergin At the beginning of the year of 1936 the Freshmen Class consisted of twenty-eight pupils. Within the first weeks, two pupils dropped from school. In September the class welcomed three new pupils, Gertrude Webster, Peter Gortmaker, and George Jorgenson. In November, a student, and m ch liked member of the class, Theodore Nicolay moved to California with his family. Again, during the month of March,the class lost three members, Dorothy Jean and Charles Barns, and David Peterson. Later in Wmarch Mildred LaPierre enrolled, adding one more to the class. INITIATION Initiation was held for the Freshmen, September ninth, tenth, and eleventh. During these days the Fresh- men glrls were allowed to wear no Jewelry nor cosmetics. They wore their hair straight, gunny sack trousers, and onions tied around their necks. The boys wore fdresses, Jewelry, ribbons in their hair, and rouge on their lips, and cheeks. Both boys and girls 'quite awkwardly rode sticks and when they failed to regard the rules they had to take off their shoes and soc 3 g and walk on sticky fly- paper. When each new pupil had been forced to do every thing from sitting in a tub of cold water to picking up a live snake, he felt that he had been thoroughly initia- ted. f-sv-
