The council joined the State Association of Student Councils and sent a delegation consisting of Arlis Ernst, Alice Johnson, George George, and John Burchfield to the State Student Council Convention at Ames in October. The council kept busy with many different projects during the year. Among them were soc-hops, sponsoring the Red Cross drive, Courtesy Week, Lost and Found Sale, selling senior name cards, decorating the school for Christ- mas, sending boxes of clothing to a home at Sioux City, and keeping a calendar of events posted at the central bul- letin board. The chore of keeping the trophy cases clean and checking and repairing lockers kept the building and grounds committee busy. The two main projects of the council this year were homecoming and the fire signs that were placed ineach room directing exit. The council sold swimming pool season tickets and sponsored the election of the 1958-59 Student Council presi- dent, the Russell award, Marvel F riesth Award, Commercial awards and News awards. Mardee Hoffman, Arlis Ernst, J im Peterson and George George were selected to attend the district meeting at Web- ster City in the spring. Lane, Coltvet, and Clabaugh check dirty lockers each week.
