His delicious bakery specialties are an essential part of weddings. celebrations and holidays, as well as daily meals. Mr. Hoofi has served Humboldt County Schools for 20 years as a trustee 0n the school board. In addition, he regularly helps and supports many school funCtions. Lowry High School has been eSpecially blessed with Hoot'r's baked goods for concessions. hot lunch, school dinners, and morning donuts. The Honor Society has benefitted from Willie's generosity one day each year for its annual donut sale. Mr. Hooft makes himself a part of our school by attending athletic events and Other school activities. In addition to Humboldt County Schools. Mr. Hoof: is an active member of the Tennis Association and is on the Senior Citizen's Board. It is people like Mr. Hooft who keep our community strong and active. 'l'he additions were Bill johnston in the Band Department, Carolyn Gillette in Mathematics. Rae Edwards teathing Alternative Education. Cnroljohnson in ESL. Wendy Wirthlin teaching Computers. Valerie Orr in P.E.i and joan Chesser as the Attendance Secretary. Secretary Phyllis Fugg and Counselor Carole Gribble left during the course of the year. The curriculum itself took on very few thanges with the addition of Basic Cumputer and Creative Writing and the discontinuation of journalism as the only alterations. Even though Lowty High saw the biggest Freshman Class ever, the number of students decreased with 520 as the total number of students enrolled. In School Administration Tom Johnstone was replaced on the School Board by Rita Backus due tu his untimely death early in the school year. As a far as clubs went this year enrollment for nearly every club showed an increase Literary Club was added for students interested in more scholarly arts. Some memorable events sponsored by Clubs this year were the Halloween and Valentines Dances by Science Club. International Club held their annual dinner and took their intellectually stimulating trip to UNR. The Band performed at several concerts, all heme basketball and football games. the State Basketball Tournamentsr and attended numerous competitions.
