The Nevada Day Parade in Carson City. and the Labor Day Parade here in Winnemucca. To add a touch to Christmas they held their annual Christmas Concert. Band added to the spirit at Lowry by playing at the football and basketball games, at the pep assemblies, and something new, at the volleyball games with Mr. Morelock in perfect form. To raise money for a year-end trip. they sold calendars. worked the concessions during football. and at the basketball and wrestling tournaments. Seafood was again sold, and a dance was also held. In a 3-1 losing effort against the varsity team, the boys proved they weren't the best on t'the block after all. Money raised at Rodeo Club's own rodeo helped support the qualifiers of the national rodeo, and a dance was held hosted by them after their own rodeo at the fairgrounds For the furst year, Rodeo Club sponsored two scholarships of $500 each. Astonished as I was I still could not see, the person I thought was truly me. For in my place there she stood. wanting to speak it only she could. Trying to tell me that I needed to change, try to create and to rearrange. This person that I had become, was a stranger to me and everyone. His dad is yelllng almost all the time. Joey doesn't know that this is a crime. He goes to his room with his head hung low, wiping ah his tears, iooking at his bruises ieh on his forearm from blocking the swings of his father's fists. He tans to his knees because at the pain, breathing on his arms to cool down the sting. He started to crawl out oi the Window; he was halfway out when his dad Came 1. He grabbed Joey's legs and pulled him back in. Joey was screaming with terror and night. His mam stood watching, the cruet and Sick sight. His dad Was yemhg while kicking Joey in the ribs and lace. 3400:: was thrown vapidly all over the walls. Joey had passed out dunng the beating. When he came around. he could barely move, His face was swollen. his lips were wide split, blood was everywhere leaking tram his face. He slowly got up, and started to limp. He went to the mirror, staring at himself; he slowly blinked once; tears fell silently, The very next day I went to his house. I asked a policeman what was going on, He said that a kidi was Vound in a roomi hanging by a rope tied around his throat. i Sald back to him uHis name isn't kid: his name Is Joey.
