They come up to Albert M Lowry beginners again, after being at the top in Junior High. On the outside they didn't seem to be fazed, but who can ever tell what a freshman is really feeling? You do have to give them credit though, They had one of the best Football Homecomlng skits ever to be put on by a freshmen classv even though their Hoat did appear to be a twin of last year's freshmen hoat, but one out of two isnlt bad considering that they ARE freshmen Their class advisors are lVlrs. Findley and Mr. Rhinehart ltwo math teachersil bet their class FUNCTIONS are PROOF of the FACT that GIVEN any other SET of students, they would GREATLY enjoy only a FINITE SEGMENT of them, but SINES indicate they EQUALLY like an INFINITE NUMBER of the Freshmehl and they are doing a 900d Job With the Lmexperienced Second semester othcers Bob Ugaldey Presy Pat Richardsy Vtceepres y Adam Barrehecheay Treasy Yvette Lighthouse StudentrBody Remy and Nancy Marcquulagay Sec froshv To sum things up, the Class of1981 had some original ideas and some not so original onesl but theytll learnt just like all the rest of the former frosh have. The Winhada was brought to you by alot of team work and some outstanding individual accomplishments. Teresa Willis sold $780 worth of advertisements, either by pounding the streets alone or dragging along another member of the staff. Sibyl Butcher contrtbuted immensely by checking our layouts, pages, and spelling. How many Basque names can you spell correctly without looking? Though individual achievements do stand out, nothing was so important as the fact that the stahI didntt stop trying to get pages done and ads sold and the boring, Hmenial work done. Through missed deadlines, uncooperative imaginations, and uncertainty at meetingsl they never quit hoping that somehow, someway this book would be a Httle more adventurous than other yearbooks, both past and future. They came up with some new and ingenious ways to flx d in grits this yearl even if they often had peas two or three ,7 times a week and got a little hamboyant with the chili powder. The food from Alice's Restaurant will live long 0 in the minds of the outgoing seniors, teachers! and dropoutsl while you underclassmen still have at least U one year left to taste the scrumptious delicacies put out by the Lowry High Gourmet Kitchenettes. R The pictures may be small, but their brooms and vacuums arenlt. Just think what life without them would bet Who would show last year's junior class how to wash the windows after the prom, make all the chalk-, black-, and hoor-boards clean, and who else would get called over the intercom at least five times a week? There was no one superstar piayeru no dazzling court performances to bring a crowd to its feet: just a team that played conSistehtly and won steadily, Indeed, conSistency is a good word to describe this team. Although Bankoher and DeChambeau tied for top scoring honors with 14.8 points per game Willer, Gonzalez, and Visger were right behind them, all with double figured averages. Visger connected on 5600 of his field goal attempts while the other starters averaged around 5000, Willer shot 8600 from the free throw lme while the other starters shot 6000 or better. These overali high averages make for a very balanced attack. Although their opponents averaged a deceptively high 60 pomts per game this wasntt enough for the Bucks who roiled up 78 pomts per game With their run and shoot style offense, No, people in Winnemucca or the rest of the state didnt get very excited about Lowry basketball this year until March 4th when the Bucks showed everyone that steadys consistent dependable teamwork can wm a state championship, 133 12, 2 Home Wooster 59 Lowry 54 123 Away Reed 65 Lowry 48 12 '9 Away Cariin Varsity 64 Lowry 61 1216 Home Sparks 57 Lowry 64 1217 Away Lovetock 4o Lowry 60 12 19 Home Lovelock 42 Lowry 63 1 13 Home Yermgton 47 Lowry 81 1 14 Away Hawthorne 54 Lowry 59 1'20 Home Wmle Pme 62 LOWW 54 1 21 Home E1ko 72 Lowry 86 1 27 Away Douglas 61 Lowry 68 1 28 Away Vermgton 49 Lowry 69 2 3 Away FaHon 59 Lowry 58 2 '4 Away Stewart 53 Lowry 52 Zr 10 Away Manogue 51 Lowry 60 2 11 Home Indme 44 Lowry 75 2 17 Home Doug1as 61 Lowry 58 2 24 Away Elko 47 Lowry 74 2 25 Home Manogue 51 Lowry 52 JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL BURNS UP THE COURT Nuke Harmon, Casey Arcxmega, Mxke Umd, Steve O1sen, Tony Richards, Dave Stoker, R15 Grantham, Lee Bosch, Nhke Erquwaga, Chuck Smnh, Curtws Baum, Manager; and Steve Swecker, Coach.
