As president of the Nevada Historical Society he is heading the creation of 3. Humboldt County Museum. The building to be used is the origi- nal Saint Mary's. Espiscopal Church, one of the oldest churches in Winnemucca. Mr. Oxborrow taught in Winnemucca for many years before becoming Guid ance Counselor in 1972. In that capacity he is a huge help to all the stu- dents at Lowry, but more importantly, he is a friend. Because of the man, not the position, everyone who knows him has benefitted in some way, and we all respect and admire his unselfish contributions of time, attention and friendship. Because we owe him so much, the Yearbook Staff dedicates the 1976 Winnada to Mr. Frank Oxborrow. .A-Q V5.55? T'f 'tll'Tl' 1J0! S tudent Council Govems School Creatively The courthouse, which sits on the corner of Fifth and Bridge Streets, was built in 1920 after the Old Courthouse burned down. While the plans for the new courthouse were being made, a temporary one was set up in the old high school building mow the Grammar Schooh. One interesting point is that the new courthouse build- ing was the cause of the diVision of Humboldt County. When Lovelock stated that they would pay only $75, 000 for the construction of the courthouse the issue of division was brought up. A few months later the bill was passed and Pershing County was formed. Information courtesy of Mrs. Michaelsen.
