The aim of the 1939 “Winnada” has been to relieve the monotony of composition found in many year books. In choosing our theme, we were reminded of a description of Nevada scenery given by an old man who had spent his entire life in our state. He drawled, “One sweep of the eye and ye’ve seen it all.” To the Winnada staff, such was not the case. Although we felt that perhaps our theme did not have a direct connection with our school, still the constantly-changing beauty of our sunsets has always held a place in the hearts of “true Nevadans.” We give you our efforts to make your 1938-1939 school year a memorable one for you.  To cur friend and teacher, Mr. F. A. Flanders, we, the staff, on behalf of the student body, dedicate this annual of 1939. During his eight years of teaching at Humboldt County High School, he has willingly cooperated with the students in any activity which they have undertaken. It is with this helpful attitude and sincerity in mind that we respectfully dedicate this Winnada to Mr. Flanders. 5
