Publications win Firsts Awards of Distinguished Merit were won by both the Purple Pride and Wildcat '80 at the interscholastic League Press Conference. At the meeting at the University of Texas at Austin, Pride staffer Margot Martin was awarded First Place in illustrations. Both staffs lost members during the year. Wildcat started the yearbook with twenty-four and finished with ten. 'tThe second semester group did a great job. Editor Sharon Berwick said. For the majority of the volume, only three girls com- prised the Pride staff. The three put out more papers in the same time than the original eight. They did a tremendous job. Advisor Yvonne Matthews said.
